PositionSummary:

The Student Conservation Associationprovidesan array of corps and crew programming across the country. TheAlabama ConservationCorps (ALCC)provides hands-on training in conservation work skillsand leadershiptoprogram participantsinpartnership with state, municipal, andnonprofitpartners.The ALCC oversees crewsin Mobileas part of theGulfCorpsprogram as well as prescribed burn internsserving in various locations within the state underthe NatureConservancy.The programoperatesas an AmeriCorps program, allowing crew members to dedicate a term of service while gaining experience in the field

The Program Coordinator positionis a 9-month position (8/3/26-4/23/27)thatensures the technical, logistical, and administrative tasks associated with executing SCA's various programs in theALCC portfolio are completed. This person ensures Corps Members and Project Leaders are equipped for program delivery andcomply withcurriculum and AmeriCorps mandates, safetycontrols, logistical service/program delivery needs, and mandatory internal record-keeping. This position reports to the Program Manager-ALandhas multiple direct reports at various levels of responsibilityand locations throughoutAlabama.

Roles and Responsibilities:

ProjectPlanning & Delivery

  • Facilitateschedulingand manage rotating projectsin collaboration with service partners.
  • Actively assess projectand environmentalriskstoensurea safe work environment.
  • Serve asa technical adviser and project support in collaboration with the Program Manager.
  • Monitor and assessthe quality& techniqueof theprojectwork performedtoensurepartner andSCA standards are met.
  • Manage project service logsand Field Maps entriesassuring data integrity.
  • Review and approve directreports'timesheetswithin timelines set by SCA.
  • Reviewtime logs andmember timesheets on ADP andAmericaLearnstoensureaccuratehour allocations.

Supervision/Mentorship

  • Directly supervise Project Leaders andprovide support in their supervision ofCorps Members.
  • Fill in for Crew Leaders in the field as needed.
  • Provideground supportto supervisors,participatinginfield activitieswith the crewregularly.
  • Conduct site visitstoassessproject implementation and ensureadherence toorganizationalguidelines.
  • Facilitateone-on-one check-inswith the crew to review overall program satisfaction as well asprogress towardprofessional development goals.
  • Responsible for modeling,facilitating, andfosteringan environment where every individual feels valued, supported, and empowered to contribute to their fullest potential.
  • Ensureprogramsarealignedwith SCACore Values including Belonging&Connection, Collaboration, and Safety &Preparedness.
  • Serve as part of the emergency response call tree for the program.

Training & Skills Development

  • Assure Corps Members and Project Leaders are trained for the safe, proficient, and effective delivery of program service activities.
  • Assist with SCA's conservation service curriculum development, documentation, and implementation, including field training, competency evaluation, and on the ground support.
  • Promote leadership development within the team and complete scheduled formal evaluations.
  • Assist the Program Manager in the development and delivery of professional development curriculum in compliance with the requirements of theGulfCorpsprogram.

Tool/Equipment Cache & Vehicles

  • Ensure the program equipment cache is organized, secured, inventoried, and compliant with SCA and partner guidelines.
  • Oversee proper tool maintenance, storage, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Assistin managing the acquisition, maintenance, and coordination of program vehicles.
  • Ensure program teams have allthe requiredtoolsand equipmentto complete service activities.

External Engagement

  • Collaborate with program partners toimplement project plansandsite visits.
  • AssistProgram Managerin building relationships with communitypartners.
  • Represent SCA at industry relevant conferences and events.
  • Role model SCA mission and values to program partnersand the public.

Program Administration

  • Assist Program Manager with administrative duties, such asreporting,tracking, and grant compliance.
  • Develop a tool and equipment purchase plan that aligns with the budget.
  • FacilitateregularevaluationsofProject Leaders andCorpsMembers.
  • Report, track,and respond to incidentsin accordance withSCA policies and procedures.
  • Assist Program Manager with developing systems for ongoing program quality and improvement.
  • Assist Program Manager in the development of new programming, which includes but is not limited to disaster response and readiness.
  • Stayupto datewithSCA and AmeriCorpspolicies,procedures, andotherrequirements.
  • Participation in ongoing staff training and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications:

Required

  • 3-5years of progressively responsible experiencedemonstratingthe skills related to the position
  • Invasivemanagement experience, in both chemical and mechanical techniques
  • Carpentry experience related to trail structures
  • Previoustrail construction and maintenance experience
  • Tool and equipment maintenance experience
  • Prior experience supervising others in an outdoor setting
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Able to work independently without daily in person supervision
  • Ability to travel on a regular basis for programming purposes
  • Minimum of 21 years of age
  • Valid driver's license and MVR that meets SCA standards
  • Ability to obtain AL Pesticide Applicator license withinfirst3 months of position.
  • Current first aid and CPR or higher required or ability to obtain

Preferred

  • Experience using andmaintainingchainsaws including training/certification such as Game of Logging or USFS Developing Thinking Sawyers are preferred but notrequired
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite
  • Working knowledge of ESRI Field Maps
  • Experience in mentorship

Travel Requirements:

  • Excellent driving record and ability to drive in a variety of conditions
  • The abilitytotravel forwork for extended periodsof time,with someovernightstays,including hiking several miles for programmatic purposes.
  • Must have a personal vehicleforrequiredworktravel, the employeeisreimbursed the current IRS authorized mileage rate for miles incurred
