Job description

This Project Manager role is part of the SMR Integration organization in Holtec's Camden, NJ engineering office and supports the Quality Processes team within that organization. Unlike a site construction oversight position, this is an office-based role focused on improving procedures, processes, and organizational effectiveness across the engineering organization. The successful candidate will be a strong problem solver who can identify inefficiencies, improve workflows, drive action closure, and help teams execute with clarity and quality.
Holtec International and its subsidiary companies are designing an unfailingly safe and secure source of clean energy using nuclear fission, called the SMR-300 small modular reactor. The SMR-300 project provides an exciting opportunity to work alongside innovative engineers focused on developing the next generation light water reactor.
Location: Camden, NJ
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Lead and support process improvement initiatives that strengthen engineering execution, cross-functional coordination, and overall organizational effectiveness within the SMR Integration organization.
  • Develop, revise, implement, and continuously improve procedures, interim guidance, templates, and supporting work processes to ensure they are practical, effective, and aligned with project and quality requirements.
  • Coordinate project integration activities across engineering and interfacing organizations, including preparation, facilitation, action tracking, and follow-up for design reviews.
  • Maintain and improve key management tools and controls, such as assumptions logs, design decision and risk registers, and applicable procedure registers.
  • Support ownership and administration of core Quality Processes team programs, including corrective action, design control, pre-job briefs and post-job reviews, document control, project management plans, project quality plans, interim guidance, supplier document review and integration, document template control, training programs, and Design-Reliability Assurance Program (D-RAP) development.
  • Partner with engineering, licensing, quality, procurement, project controls, and other stakeholders to identify process gaps, resolve execution issues, and implement sustainable corrective and preventive actions.
  • Prepare and communicate status reports to engineers and managements, action item summaries, metrics, risks, decisions, and management updates to support effective planning and leadership visibility.
  • Improve the efficiency and quality of document review, approval, and integration workflows for internal engineering deliverables and supplier documents.
  • Support deployment of new or revised procedures and tools by coordinating communication, training, and change management activities across the organization.
  • Provide hands-on project management support for special assignments and cross-functional initiatives as needed to improve consistency, accountability, and execution across the Camden-based engineering team.

Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in project management, engineering, quality, process improvement, or program management within the nuclear industry, engineering industry, or another regulated technical environment
  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or another closely related technical or business field
  • Demonstrated ability to improve procedures, processes, or organizational effectiveness and to drive issues to resolution
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple disciplines
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate, clear, and well-structured documentation
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with common business, project management, and document control tools needed to support engineering execution
  • U.S. Citizenship required due to security requirements for this role
  • Direct experience in the nuclear industry or within an engineering design organization preferred
  • Familiarity with project controls, procedure management, corrective action programs, document control, risk management, or training program administration preferred
  • Experience supporting design reviews, supplier document workflows, or regulated quality programs preferred
  • Working knowledge of U.S. NRC expectations, quality assurance principles, or structured design control processes preferred
  • Experience using data analysis or artificial intelligence (AI) tools to improve efficiency and productivity preferred
  • Professional Project Management certification or progress toward certification preferred
