Related curriculum:Bachelor's or higher degree in anthropology, history, American studies, or a related field with coursework similar to the requirements above, including archeological field school.You must submit transcripts.- OR -C. Combination of education and experience:College-level education or training providing knowledge equivalent to the requirements listed above, plus appropriate technical experience or additional education.You must submit transcripts.- OR -D. Experience:At least four years of professional archeological work experience demonstrating knowledge of archeological theory and principles. In addition, you must meet the Specialized Experience for this position. In order to be qualified for this position, you must possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service, professional knowledge of natural and cultural resources, including as appropriate but not limited to history, archeology, historic structures, ethnology, cultural landscapes, natural and cultural museum collections, archives, botany, wildlife biology, ecology, hydrology, and physical sciences. Examples of this include:
1. Experience drafting and implementing resource management plans. The candidate must have previously written, coordinated, and implemented natural or cultural resource management plans or action plans-such as inventory plans, monitoring protocols, or preservation/mitigation plans-and demonstrated the ability to integrate multidisciplinary resource information (e.g., historic, archeological, biological).
2. Experience conducting field-based resource inventories and scientifically credible monitoring. The candidate must have performed hands-on inventory or monitoring tasks, including designing sample plots, collecting field data, recording results using professional standards, and analyzing findings to evaluate resource conditions.
3. Experience preparing compliance documentation under NHPA and/or NEPA. The candidate must have developed compliance documents such as Environmental Assessments (EAs) or Categorical Exclusions, Section 106 reviews, or evaluations of Environmental Impact Statements, ensuring projects adhered to federal cultural and natural resource protection requirements.
4. Experience managing projects, budgets, and agreements. The candidate must have created work plans, schedules, cost estimates, or statements of work, and administered funds or has the ability to become an Agreements Technical Representative (ATR) or Contracting Officer's Representative (COR).
5. Experience providing technical guidance or training to staff, partners, or stakeholders. The candidate must have previously trained, advised, or provided professional guidance on resource management procedures-such as instructing staff on data collection standards, monitoring protocols, museum curation procedures, or compliance workflows-and demonstrated the ability to communicate technical information clearly.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.Education:This position does not allow substituting education for experience.This position has a mandatory education requirement.

Transcripts must include your name, school name, grades, credit hours earned, major(s), grade point average or class ranking, and date the degree was conferred, if applicable.
