Job description

The Health and Safety Specialist III reports to the Director of Health & Safety and plays a critical role in developing, implementing, and sustaining corporate health and safety programs. This position partners with facility personnel to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations (federal and state-specific), applicable national standards, and corporate H&S initiatives while supporting effective risk management practices.
This role will have a strong focus on supporting Power Generation Projects across the Northeast region, including Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, and Maryland. Due to the high volume of travel required to support these operations, candidates must be based on the East Coast.
The Health and Safety Specialist III works closely with Plant Managers and Plant EHS Managers to drive consistent program implementation across the fleet and foster a culture of safety excellence while upholding all corporate safety policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, national consensus standards, and risk management practices impacting facility operations.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies and standards in collaboration with management.
  • Conduct incident investigations, assist HR with coordinating medical treatments, and analyze trends to recommend corrective actions.
  • Design and implement workplace processes to mitigate hazardous conditions and prevent future incidents.
  • Monitor and drive participation in corporate safety awareness programs.
  • Evaluate and recommend new safety programs for facility integration.
  • Inspect and assess workplace environments, equipment, and procedures to ensure compliance with corporate and government standards; follow up on corrective actions.
  • Train personnel on safety programs, evaluate retention of safety knowledge, and ensure enforcement by supervisors.
  • Assist in maintaining OSHA 300 Logs and tracking department safety work orders.
