This position works out of our Alameda, CA location in the Lingo Division. Meet Lingo, a new biosensing technology that provides users a window into their body. Lingo tracks key biomarkers - such as glucose, ketones, and lactate - to help people make better decisions about their health and nutrition. As Finance Manager, you will provide support and partnership for Commercial & Marketing teams with particular focus on actuals reporting and forecasting for Plan, rLBE and Confirm processes. The role requires coordination with cross functional teams to meet requirements & deadlines, as well as the management & enhancement of analytics to support understanding of submissions. The position requires strong people management, analytical, prioritization, and presentation skills as well as focus on process & identifying areas of efficiency. This is an onsite opportunity in Alameda, CA
What You'll Work On
  • Strengthen processes to help develop North America P&L & Balance Sheet forecasts for Plan, rLBE and Confirm
  • Ensure availability of timely and well-presented sales results, high-quality P&L and balance sheet, & projections vs. appropriate benchmarks as well ass, trended information.
  • Identify meaningful analytics including trend analyses, which can be gleaned from rLBE submissions; presentation of these findings to North America Commercial senior leadership to aid strategic decision making and agree upon storyline of the submission
  • Preparation of LBE deck, working with stakeholders to prepare presentation to senior management. Focus on simplifying submissions to make slides concise & executive-ready
  • Support Management in development of financial Long-Range Planning and Portfolio Management as well as tracking/monitoring progress, profitability and return on investment.
  • Financial expertise in evaluating and identifying the key issues and gaps in business performance and emerging business needs, deliver analyses that provide a foundation for management understanding and action.
  • Develop metrics and reports to identify activity level for monthly review with management to address performance as well as cost and spending drivers.
  • Provide business decision support as required, including meaningful, value-added profitability analyses for new product concepts, new product launches, promotional programs, instrument placements, major customer, distribution channels, and/or product lines to influence and counsel management in developing business and pricing strategies.
  • Develop flexible, comprehensive tools to support commercial program proposals focused on ROI and fully burdened margin profitability to support various business needs, including training to improve the financial understanding of the key nonfinancial commercial management & staff.
  • Maintain and develop system solutions and process improvements that meet the needs of the financial planning & reporting requirements.
  • Responsible for adherence to Abbott accounting policies and procedures (CFMs) and Sarbanes Oxley requirements.
  • Maintain controls to ensure the integrity of assets and compliance with GAAP
  • Establish competent and appropriately staffed finance team to support current and future needs of the business and functional organization.

Experience You'll Bring
Required
  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Accounting, Finance, or Economics or an equivalent combination education and work experience; MBA preferred
  • Minimum of 7 years of finance and supervisory experience (FP&A, Cost/General Accounting and Financial Reporting). Financial experience at country level a plus
  • Ability to plan, implement and administer financial information and control systems
  • Knowledge of the principles, processes and standards for integrated financial analysis and reporting
