What is the opportunity?

Global Functions Technology (GFT) is a division within RBC's Technology and Operations group, dedicated to supporting a wide range of business partners, including Risk, Finance, Human Resources (HR), Chief Administrative Office (CAO), Audit, Legal, Compliance, Financial Crime, Capital Markets, Personal and Commercial Banking, and Wealth Management.

The Senior Director, Global Finance SAP Lead within GFT's Finance IT will own the successful greenfield implementation of a cloud-based, enterprise-wide Product Subledger, Non-Product Subledger and Enterprise General Ledger. Acting as the primary bridge between enterprise technology leadership, business stakeholders, and delivery squads, this role will drive the end-to-end implementation. This Global SAP Lead will ensure consistent design and configuration, oversee technical integration and performance, and align stakeholders across technology, finance, and operations.

What will you potentially do?

Platform Execution

  • Lead a greenfield SAP Product Subledger, Non-Product Subledger and Enterprise General Ledger implementation across all execution workstreams

  • Drive the enterprise implementation, ensuring adherence to the global design template and leveraging lessons learned to accelerate adoption.

  • Collaborate with the Program Director to establish delivery standards, methodologies, and KPIs to ensure consistent, high-quality outcomes across the program.

Technical and Functional Leadership

  • Provide expert oversight for platform integration, technical delivery, data integration, data migration, and custom development.

  • Act as the lead subject matter expert for the functional solution, ensuring the design meets all requirements for event-based accounting, subledger, and GL processes.

  • Drive the strategy for complex technical areas, including integrations with enterprise GL systems, data migration, and custom development.

  • Enforce SAP governance to uphold the integrity of the global template design across all entity rollouts.

  • Ensure the final SAP solution is scalable and performant to meet the demands of the enterprise

Leadership and Strategy

  • Lead and manage a multi-disciplinary team to achieve program objectives, fostering accountability and collaboration.

  • Function as the primary delivery partner to program leadership, aligning with the Program Director and SAP Architect.

  • Engage senior stakeholders to align priorities, strategic trade-offs, and business strategies.

  • Ensure deliverables meet business outcomes and enable value creation.

  • Provide technology thought leadership to address business and regulatory demands.

  • Manage program deliverables, scope, competing priorities, and requirements changes effectively.

  • Promote collaboration across functional teams to develop enterprise-wide solutions.

  • Resolve complex issues and ensure adherence to Enterprise Architecture Governance.

  • Oversee program financials with strong governance, reporting, and timely communication.

  • Thrive in dynamic environments, leveraging organizational skills to handle multiple concurrent activities.

Talent Management

  • Sets direction and vision for team members and defines the team's deliverables and key performance indicators/metrics.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • 15+ years of SAP implementation experience, leading large-scale, multi-entity Finance ERP rollouts in global financial institutions, especially Tier-1 banks.

  • Expertise in Product Subledger, General Ledger, event-based accounting processes including integration with enterprise GL systems.

  • Proven success in SAP governance, global template design, and entity rollouts, with hands-on leadership in program workstreams (design, configuration, integration, reporting, data migration).

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, influencing senior executives and building relationships with diverse stakeholders.

  • Experience delivering cloud-based SAP solutions from design to production support, with deep knowledge of financial accounting principles and event-based accounting systems.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead geographically dispersed teams of consultants, developers, and integration specialists in global financial services environments.

  • Knowledge of architecture aspects (business, data, cyber security), SDLC lifecycle, Agile methodologies, and prior experience working with global/distributed teams.

  • Holds undergraduate and/or post-graduate degree (preferably in Business or Finance)
