Job description

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Neuro Program Director provides administrative and clinical leadership for the Neuro-Behavioral program at Timberlyn Heights. The Program Director provides oversight for the overall clinical and administrative practice of the neurobehavioral unit, patient centered healthcare setting to persons with mental health and co-occurring disorders.


Position Summary

The Program Director functions as the responsible party for the overall clinical and administrative practices of the neurobehavioral unit. The Program Director plans, organizes, staffs, provides training, directs and manages the services provided on the unit so that services are delivered in an efficient, expeditious, courteous and professional manner. The Program Director is integrally involved with the admission and discharge processes of residents including development of plans of care and communicating with referral sources, families, funders, and prospective discharge sites. The Program Director is also responsible for ensuring that all policies, procedures, standards and applicable regulatory agencies and state and federal requirements are consistently implemented on the unit. Assumes 24 hour on-call responsibility for notification of and resource for all administrative and clinical issues.


SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the operations of behavioral health services in accordance with Joint Commission and DPH requirements

  • Supervise behavioral health specialists

  • Works collaboratively with the Nursing department to achieve the individual goals for each resident.

  • Foster collaborative care efforts between primary care providers and mental health clinicians within Timberlyn Heights network of care through the use of behavioral health practice principles

  • Monitor, review and ensure timely completion of quality clinical documentation pursuant to Timberlyn Heights policy and procedures

  • Assist with advocacy efforts on behalf of residents through active engagement in local, state and national professional organizations and other advocacy groups.

  • Monitor productivity of services as a means to provide input and projections for program improvements and budgeting

  • Provide supervision for staff seeking advancement in clinical licensure and provide preceptorship for students from behavioral health training programs

  • Participate in Timberlyn Heights quality improvement efforts

  • Maintain required continuing education requirements for licensure each year

  • Demonstrates excellence in both internal and external customer service.

  • Understands and is able to effectively communicate HIPAA compliance, corporate compliance and client confidentiality.

  • Ensures and/or remains in compliance with local, state, and federal regulation.

  • Completes other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS

Masters or doctoral degree in Psychology, Social Work, OTR/L or related field. At least 3-5 years of experience working with neurologic, psychiatric, and/or developmentally disabled adults and individuals with behavioral problems of which at least 2 years will have been in management or program supervision. Two years experience in long-term care facilities is preferred with previous successful JCAHO and DPH survey experience highly desirable.
