FocusPoint Talent Solutions – Recruiting on Behalf of a Confidential Healthcare Client

FocusPoint is partnering with a respected, mission‑driven acute care provider to identify an experienced Director of Maternal & Child Services. This is a high‑impact, operationally hands‑on leadership role overseeing a full continuum of maternal, neonatal, and perinatal services within a modern hospital environment.

This position is open due to a planned retirement and offers the opportunity to lead a stable, well‑resourced service line with strong organizational support.

Position Overview

The Director is responsible for the 24/7 operational, clinical, and administrative leadership of Maternal & Child Services, including Labor & Delivery, NICU, Lactation, and related perinatal programs. This leader oversees clinical quality, regulatory compliance, staffing, budgeting, patient experience, and multidisciplinary collaboration across all assigned units.

The role requires a resourceful, strategic, and highly visible leader who thrives in a hands‑on environment and can guide teams through change while maintaining exceptional standards of care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide full operational oversight for Maternal & Child Services, ensuring safe, high‑quality patient care across all units.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop management and frontline teams; oversee approximately 9 direct reports and 100–120 FTEs.

  • Maintain compliance with all applicable State and Federal regulations, including Title 22 and other regulatory frameworks.

  • Partner with senior leadership on program development, capital planning, budgeting, and service‑line growth initiatives.

  • Serve as a liaison between administration, physicians, staff, and patients to support a collaborative care environment.

  • Ensure clinical competency standards are met for all patient populations served.

  • Provide 24/7 leadership availability for operational and clinical escalation needs.

  • Oversee units that typically include:

    • ~125 deliveries per month

    • NICU with an average daily census of ~4 and capacity for up to 11

    • 2 ORs and 3 PACU bays dedicated to Women’s Services

Qualifications
  • Current RN license (state‑specific licensure required upon hire).

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required; Master’s in Nursing or related field strongly preferred.

  • Minimum 5 years of clinical management or administrative leadership in maternal, neonatal, or perinatal services.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory requirements, budgeting, staffing models, and clinical operations.

  • Proven ability to lead teams through change using collaborative, positive leadership.

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict‑resolution skills.

  • Professional organization membership and/or specialty certification preferred.

Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Hands‑on, visible leader comfortable in a working‑director environment.

  • Skilled at balancing strategic planning with day‑to‑day operational needs.

  • Adept at building trust with physicians, staff, and cross‑functional partners.

  • Comfortable being on‑call 24/7 for a high‑acuity service line.

  • Interested in a long‑term leadership role rather than short‑term interim work.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Competitive director‑level salary range (targeting the upper portion for strong experience).

  • Bonus eligibility ~15 percent.

  • 403(b) retirement plan with employer match.

  • Comprehensive benefits package through the client organization.
