Job description

Job Type:

  • Full Time
  • Hybrid onsite at the McGee & Co.Visual Warehouse located in Draper, Utah (required)
  • Experience Level: 3-5+ years

Overview:

Our Product Development team is responsible for translating creative vision into high-quality, scalable, and commercially successful home products. We are seeking a highly organized, execution-driven Product Development Associate with strong textile knowledge and hands-on experience managing soft goods development from concept through production.

This role is ideal for someone who understands fabrics, a variety of fabrication and construction techniques, and finishes, and who excels at managing timelines, vendors, specifications, and approvals. Rather than focusing on designing products, this role ensures that products are developed accurately, efficiently, and to our quality and brand standards.

You will serve as a key operational partner to our designers, sourcing team, and vendors, owning the day-to-day management of textile development.

Who We Are:

Founded in 2014, Studio McGee, Inc. is one of the fastest growing home design brands in America. Our journey began with a thriving interiors business that focused on approachable, yet aspirational design. By leveraging the power of digital communities, we were able to expand our footprint in the interior design industry through an unconventional approach that connected us with our consumers. We continued to carry that forward-thinking attitude into the launch of our retail business, McGee & Co., which anchors the operational and revenue growth of our company. Our licensing partnerships allow us to further expand our design voice beyond our own collection. From a multi-year partnership with Target to an Emmy-nominated Netflix Series and a NY Times Best-Selling book, Studio McGee's passion is to empower people to design with an approachability that enhances their daily life and elevates their everyday. Whether following us on social media or becoming part of our company, we invite you to join us on our mission to “Make Life Beautiful.”

Key Responsibilities:

Product Development & Program Management

  • Own and manage the end-to-end development process for assigned textile and soft goods categories
  • Provide print and pattern support to the hardgoods category when needed
  • Build and maintain detailed development calendars, trackers, and milestone schedules that align with the milestone dates of the seasonal development calendar
  • Drive projects forward by proactively managing deadlines, dependencies, and approvals
  • Coordinate cross-functional handoffs between Design, Sourcing, Merchandising, QA, and Operations
  • Identify risks, delays, or quality issues early and escalate with solutions

Textile & Material Oversight

  • Evaluate fabrics for construction, durability, hand-feel, and performance
  • Review lab dips, strike-offs, handlooms, and production samples for accuracy to approved standards
  • Validate that patterns, colors, finishes, and constructions meet specifications
  • Partner with sourcing to identify and qualify mills and vendors
  • Support fabric testing, compliance, and performance requirements

Vendor & Production Management

  • Manage day-to-day communication with domestic and international vendors
  • Issue and track specifications, tech packs, and development requests
  • Ensure vendors understand quality, cost, and timeline expectations
  • Review TOP samples and pre-production samples for consistency and accuracy
  • Resolve production issues in partnership with sourcing and QA

Systems, Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate product data in internal systems
  • Manage SKUs, BOMs, specs, and cost files
  • Track samples, approvals, and revisions
  • Prepare status reports and development summaries for leadership

Sample & Warehouse Coordination

  • Oversee physical samples housed at the Draper Visual Warehouse
  • Coordinate sample intake, storage, and distribution
  • Ensure samples are available for reviews, shoots, and launches
  • Partner with Visual Styling and Creative teams on sample needs

What You'll Bring:

  • 3–5+ years of experience in textile product development, working in a cross-functional environment, and soft goods manufacturing
  • Hands-on experience managing development for bedding, bath, rugs, pillows, or similar categories
  • Strong working knowledge of fibers, weaves, constructions, and finishes
  • Ability to distinguish and evaluate fabric quality, patterns, and color accuracy
  • Experience managing complex timelines and SKU-heavy assortments
  • Proven ability to drive execution and close open issues
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and process-driven
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable working in Excel and Google Workspace
  • Confident working with overseas vendors and factories
  • Problem-solver with strong follow-through

Work Environment & Location:

This role is based at our Draper, Utah Visual Warehouse and Headquarters. Due to the hands-on nature of managing physical samples and collaborating cross-functionally, this position requires regular in-person presence. Candidates must be located in Utah or willing to relocate.

Benefits:

  • Competitive compensation + bonuses
  • Comprehensive health benefits (medical, dental, vision, hospital indemnity, accident, pet)
  • Open PTO
  • 401k Employer match - 100% of deferrals up to 4% of compensation
  • Exclusive Team Member discount at mcgeeandco.com + access to Team Member warehouse sales
  • Opportunity to be part of a vibrant, inclusive, and innovative team

McGee is proud to be an equal opportunity employer - we see the beauty of celebrating our teams' differences, regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, or veteran status. Together we Make Life Beautiful.
