As a Trainer Specialist, you'll play an important role in developing and empowering employees through engaging training programs, hands-on coaching, and continuous learning opportunities. Job Summary:

The Training Specialist is responsible for helping implement learning and development programs at Grand Canyon Railway, The Grand Hotel, Tusayan Trading Post, Grand Canyon Hotel & Suites, and any other assigned properties. This person will make sure that all goals are achieved in a timely and effective way.

The Details:Position Type: Full-Time,Year-Round

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm (with 1 hour lunch break)

Wage: $23.70 per hour

Responsibilities
  • Fully understand and support Xanterra's Mission Statement, Cultural Pillars, Community Commitment and Core Values
  •  Determines annually, which current training programs will be offered as well as adding Xanterra standardized programs across departments by working with the Director and Manager of HR, property GM's and the corporate Learning and Development Manager.
  • Oversees training logistics, including scheduling, ordering materials, and room setup, and facilitates all training programs to ensure compliance with established standards. Coordinates, assigns, and supports alcohol prevention training in compliance with Xanterra policies and state regulations.
  • Coordinates, assigns, and supports food handler and food manager training programs in compliance with Xanterra policies and all applicable state and county regulations. Coordinates, facilitates and supports New Hire Orientation working with HR Director, HR Manager, Talent Acquisition Manager and HR Coordinator.
  • Supports, coordinates and implements training to ensure Xanterra Hospitality Standards are in place at each assigned property.
  • Attends property level safety training programs to monitor and ensure compliance, as well as Support Risk Management initiatives as required.
  • Supports the roll out of new corporate L&D initiatives, as well as champion data entry into L3 LMS. Provides support to all departments to ensure that goals and obligations are met on a timely basis.
  • Assists with enforcing Company Policies and Procedures.
  • Assists with employee related functions and events such as Employee Appreciation Dinner, Service Awards Banquet, Employee Picnic, Health Fairs & Vaccine Clinics and provides recommendations to committee regarding employee events, may represent the HR department as a Committee Member.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience presenting information large groups and ability to effectively engage with a diverse audience .
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel) with ability to learn various applications and programs is foundational.
  • Possess or able to obtain a valid Arizona Driver's License and comply with Xanterra Park's & Resorts Company Vehicle Policy.
  • Must possess or obtain TIPS (Alcohol Service) Certification within the first three (3) months of employment
  • Must possess or obtain ServSafe (Food Safety) Registered Proctor Certification within the first three (3) months of employment, enabling the administration of food safety handler and manager examinations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a trainer and with Learning Management Systems (LMS) preferred.
  • Prior HR experience in the hospitality industry a plus.
  • Dayforce, Infor Cloud Suite, and Outlook experience a plus.
  • Bi-lingual language skills (English/Spanish) a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly listening, hearing, seeing, sitting, twisting, eye/hand coordination, manual dexterity, handling and wrist motion lifting/carrying 10lbs or less.
  • Occasionally standing, walking, reaching outward, reaching above shoulder, climbing, squat/kneeling, carrying, bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, and pulling items weighing up to 50lbs.
  • Will be required to sit for long periods of time and occasionally walk, climb stairs and walk on uneven surfaces.
