Job Description:

SCOPE: A Philanthropy Internship is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic, hardworking student looking to impact the future of philanthropy and gain invaluable career experience. The Baton Rouge Philanthropy Intern is a key member of the Office of Philanthropy team, supporting the Baton Rouge fundraising program (special events, annual giving, major gifts and grants) through research, philanthropy communications, donor event support and special projects. Position is located in Baton Rouge, LA.

FUNCTIONS:

Researching individual, corporate and institutional supporters to strengthen current relationships and develop new partnerships
Creative development of marketing and communications
Donor database management for all philanthropy programs
Special projects and administrative support
Assist with donor cultivation, stewardship and fundraising events and activities
Assisting with creative ways to recognize and thank donors
Assist with philanthropy communications platforms for all philanthropy programs including website, social media and mailings
Assist with donor database for donor research, prospecting and stewardship
Correspond regularly with donors and prospective donors via email, telephone and mail
Support special projects for all philanthropy programs as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate is a college student in good academic standing, majoring in Marketing, Business Administration or Mass Communication who is motivated and eager to learn.

Must be able to interact professionally with potential donors, with proven interpersonal, verbal and communication skills

Detail-oriented, resourceful and creative; must be able to think strategically and execute detailed plans to completion

Ability to work independently, set priorities and work under many deadlines

Strong planning, research and analytical skills

Dependability, flexibility and reliable transportation are a must

Experience with Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, and PowerPoint preferred

Desktop design and database management experience a plus

Ability to obtain College course credit (based on College requirements) preferred
