Position Summary

The Fine Arts Program Coordinator oversees the creation, implementation, and execution of Fine Arts programing and events as coordinated with the Red Shield Program Director. These programs and events include, but are not limited to, annual gatherings, weekly programming, external (partnership) programs, and various other special or coordinated events. It is the responsibility of Fine Arts Program Coordinator to oversee the schedules and placement of the necessary staff to execute a Fine Arts program or event, and ensure details related to the program and events are managed in accordance with the policies and processes of The Salvation Army, a California Corporation. Fine Arts encompass a vast array of focuses from dance to music, digital arts, and traditional art (painting, sculpting, pottery, etc.). While the Fine Arts Program Coordinator does not have to be proficient in one or all areas, they must have an understanding and appreciation of the focuses, and how to support them.

Essential Functions

  • Create, schedule, and implement Fine Arts based programming internally and coordinate with outside groups to present classes, workshops, and events within the scope of the department.
  • Work with outside parties interested in participating in Fine Arts programs, classes, or events with the Long Beach Red Shield and coordinate with interdepartmental staff to execute these undertakings accordingly.
  • Obtain all necessary information of interested programs and events participants and process accordingly.
  • Oversee and meet with assigned staff schedules and responsibilities and ensure training, certifications, and, required documentation is up to date and recorded appropriately.
  • Promote Fine Arts programming and membership opportunities.
  • Assist in the employee processes of assigned staff.
  • Coordinate fundraising ideas, events, or pathways (grants, community funding, savings portals) with Director of Programs and Development
  • Track frequency of work activities to flow into monthly statistical reporting system of The Salvation Army as well as be retrievable on the basis or type of service rendered.
  • Oversee the compliance of all Salvation Army safety regulations and client confidentiality as it may relate to activities involving Fine Arts programs.
  • Other duties as assigned by Corps Officer or Red Shield Program Director within the scope of the position.

Working Conditions

Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis.  Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead.  Ability to operate computer, fax and telephone. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.

PAY RATE: $22-$25/hr.

Minimum Qualifications     

  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a Fine Arts focus, such as music, dance, traditional artforms, or digital arts.
  • Associate degree in related field preferred.
  • Proficiency in preparing budgets.
  • Proficiency in program development for Fine Arts classes and events
  • The successful candidate will have a broad-spectrum skill set including managerial proficiency, public speaking, staff management and written communication expertise.
  • Be able to pass all required courses and trainings associated to the position.
