Position Summary
314 Action is the nation's largest organization dedicated to electing Democratic scientists and STEM leaders who will champion facts, fight extremism, and deliver progressive change-from the U.S. Senate to local school boards.
Into the rest of 2026 and beyond, we are looking for a Development Associate to help us as the organization expands 314 Action's nationwide fundraising network and grows our donor base. The ideal candidate would have 1-2 years of political fundraising experience or leadership experience in the development and fundraising space of a political organization, or 1-2 years of experience in major gifts fundraising at an institution. The Development Associate will report to the Deputy Development Director and will work closely with Senior Development Associates, the Senior Development Director and other members of our organization leadership staff, including the President.
The Development Associate will work with department staff focused on major donor outreach to manage day-to-day operations of the following aspects of the Development program; schedule in-person and virtual meetings and calls; support national travel outreach and coordination; prepare memos, briefings and documents for meetings and travel; database management; in-person and virtual event support; conduct major donor stewardship.
Responsibilities Include
  • Help execute the meeting booking process including email, phone calls, and text message outreach to set up in-person and virtual meetings and scheduled calls
  • Support the Deputy Development Director and development staff to coordinate and book national travel for organization leadership to meet with donors and potential funders
  • Create memos for scheduled calls, meetings, and donor briefings for major donor stewardship
  • Work with Deputy Development Director and department staff to conduct independent direct solicitation of mid-level donors through calls and event outreach
  • Work with Deputy Development Director and department staff on event programming and tracker management for organization led events, donor hosted fundraisers, and candidate events
  • Assist in outreach and research contacts for corporate and foundation support
  • Help identify new prospects for organization and work with department staff to develop and implement cultivation and solicitation tactics to reach them
  • Assist in drafting, designing and producing written materials for funders (i.e. briefing memos, funding proposals, email newsletters, invites)
  • Continually update and correct database records
  • Other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications
  • Self-starter with 1-2 years of political / campaign / electoral or nonprofit experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Docs (Canva additional plus)
  • Proficiency in NGP, ActBlue
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced atmosphere with extreme attention to detail
