Job description

Job Title: Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery

Location: Allen, TX
Duration: 8 Weeks
Shift: Night Shift | 3x12-Hour Shifts
Start Time: 6:30 PM
Schedule: Weekends and holidays as needed

Compensation: $2,000 - $2,100 Weekly (Based on Experience)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) to provide exceptional care to patients throughout the antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum continuum. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, the ability to respond effectively in high-acuity situations, and a commitment to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care. This position requires flexibility to support both Labor & Delivery and Mother-Baby units as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients during labor, delivery, recovery, and the immediate postpartum period.
  • Monitor maternal and fetal well-being, recognizing and responding appropriately to changes in patient condition.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and therapeutic interventions in accordance with established protocols.
  • Assist physicians and healthcare providers during labor, delivery, and emergency obstetric procedures.
  • Perform ongoing assessments and accurately document patient care activities in the electronic medical record.
  • Educate patients and families regarding labor, delivery, postpartum recovery, newborn care, and discharge instructions.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure safe and effective patient outcomes.
  • Float to the Mother-Baby unit when Labor & Delivery census is low and provide care for postpartum patients and newborns.
  • Maintain compliance with organizational policies, patient safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and professional development activities.
Required Qualifications

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program.
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Licensure & Certifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Current NURSYS verification and primary source license verification required.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • Additional specialty certifications may be required based on facility guidelines.
Required Experience
  • Minimum of two (2) years of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience.
  • Experience caring for antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn patients.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
  • Strong assessment, critical thinking, and emergency response skills.
  • Experience with electronic medical records and clinical documentation systems.
Preferred Skills
  • Excellent communication and patient education abilities.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Flexibility to float between Labor & Delivery and Mother-Baby units.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing patient volumes and staffing needs.
Assignment Details
  • Night Shift (12-hour shifts).
  • 36 hours per week.
  • Weekends and holidays required as needed.
  • Travel assignment.
