Registered Nurse (RN) – Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) - Travel Position (with $7,500 Completion Bonus)

Location: Prescott, AZ
Job Type: Travel Contract
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 3x12 Days
Pay: $2,255.76 /week (plus $2,500 completion bonus per contract, up to $7,500 after three contracts) 


Job Summary:

The CVICU Registered Nurse provides specialized critical care to patients recovering from complex cardiovascular surgeries and procedures, including open-heart surgery, heart transplants, and advanced cardiac interventions. This role requires expert knowledge of hemodynamic monitoring, vasoactive medication administration, and advanced life-support techniques.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care to critically ill cardiovascular patients in an intensive care setting.
  • Monitor and interpret hemodynamic parameters, cardiac rhythms, and ventilator settings.
  • Administer and titrate vasoactive medications, antiarrhythmics, and other critical care drugs.
  • Manage invasive lines (central lines, arterial lines), chest tubes, and temporary pacing wires.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies, including cardiac arrest and rapid deterioration.
  • Collaborate with cardiothoracic surgeons, intensivists, and multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Educate patients and families on post-operative care and recovery expectations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Adhere to infection control, safety protocols, and hospital policies.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing).
  • Licensure: Current RN license in [State].
  • Certifications:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) – Required
    • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – Required
    • Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) – Preferred
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 1–2 years of recent CVICU or cardiac ICU experience required.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Expertise in cardiovascular physiology and critical care interventions.
  • Strong proficiency in hemodynamic monitoring and rhythm interpretation.
  • Ability to manage high-acuity patients and respond effectively in emergencies.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and assist with patient care for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity for operating critical care equipment.
