Primary Purpose of the Organization:
The Office of Military Affiliated Services exists to provide efficient and effective services to military-affiliated students through collaboration with deans, faculty, student services personnel, and other campus stakeholders. The office supports Student Enrollment and Student Success (SESS) by coordinating academic support services for:
  • Veterans
  • Military dependents
  • Fort Bragg-affiliated students
  • Active-duty military students

The office also provides advising, counseling, and student support related to:
  • Veteran Benefits
  • Educational programs for military spouses and dependents, including MyCAA and
  • GI Bill transferability
  • FSU Military Tuition Scholarship

Primary Purpose of the Position:
Serves as one of four Veteran School Certifying Officials for Fayetteville State University's main campus. Assist VA students/dependents in applying for educational benefits. Responsible for interpreting and explaining VA regulations and analyzing how VA policy changes impact FSU's policies and procedures to design and implement solutions for the organization and processing of VA benefits. Provides excellent customer service to support Bronco military-connected students.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Knowledge skills and abilities:
  • Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills.
  • Collaboration - Must work effectively with others to accomplish the unit's goals and identify and resolve problems.
  • Demonstrated decisiveness (ability to make decisions on time and to take action independently) and judgment (ability to weigh all alternatives and make logical assumptions to make reasonable and sound decisions).
  • Attention to Detail - Demonstrated ability to accomplish tasks thoroughly, handling all aspects needed, large or small.
  • Leadership - Ability to use appropriate interpersonal styles and methods to guide a team to accomplish goals and objectives.
  • Initiative-Ability to take actions beyond outlined job responsibilities to meet goals.
  • Planning and Organizational Skills-Ability to establish a course of action for self and others to accomplish goals- including setting goals, budgeting time, setting priorities, and understanding how they all relate.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Instructional ability (instruct and train employees and students by providing information, appropriate procedures, practices, and policies as they pertain to VA benefits.
