About the Agency: The Mississippi Division of Medicaid responsibly provides access to quality health coverage for vulnerable Mississippians. Medicaid provides health coverage for eligible, low income populations in Mississippi. These populations include children, low-income families, pregnant women, the aged and disabled.
About the Position: The Benefit Program Team Lead plays a critical role in ensuring program operations are carried out effectively, efficiently, and in compliance with agency policies through mentoring and coaching new hires and remedial staff members. Provides daily support, oversight, and guidance to a team of Benefit Program Specialist. This role ensures the team meets productivity and quality benchmarks, facilitates training and professional development, communicates operational updates, and fosters a collaborative, accountable work environment. The Team Leader also supports hiring, onboarding, and continuous improvement efforts to ensure effective service delivery and staff growth.
What you'll need to be Successful: This position requires knowledge of Medicaid policies and procedures, supervisory skills and must have knowledge and skills to perform and review work overseen. Background in customer service. Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize work to meet assigned deadlines. Reading and comprehending policies. Good leadership experience, coaching, and progressive discipline.This position requires knowledge of Eligibility Policies and Procedures. The Benefit Program Team Lead must serve as the first point of contact for staff regarding case-related questions, policies, and procedures. Partner with Case Reviewers to address individual performance issues and knowledge gaps to provide targeted training or resources. Foster a supportive work environment that promotes teamwork, respect, and staff development. Ability to perform the following:Perform periodic informal case reviews to identify potential errors early and provide on-the-spot coaching. Support management in documenting PRAs and implementing corrective action plans when necessary. Ensure staff are developing competence in both MAGI and ABD case types and other critical areas. Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and strong customer service in all interactions.Current knowledge of Medicaid Eligibility Policy and Procedures.Ability to Coach and Mentor current and incoming staff.
Preferred Qualifications: Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree and 3-5 years of experience. Agency preferred qualifications:Experience in MEDS, Power BI, ROL, MESA, and Workday.
