The MMC STARS (Students Achieving Real-Life Skills) Program is intended for students of the Harlan Community School District. The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Intern through the MMC STARS Program assists the professional nursing staff in providing quality patient care, while receiving on-the-job learning in various nursing and clinical departments. The STARS Program includes a combination of work-based learning while earning school credit. The CNA Intern is responsible for performing a variety of patient care activities including, but not limited to, activities of daily living (ADLs), assessments, documentation, etc., and related health care functions under the direct supervision of the Department Manager or designated staff. The CNA Intern would also have the opportunity to acquire Phlebotomy and Sterile Processing skills. The student schedule would be approximately 1 hour/day which would equal approximately 95 hours in a semester. The student would be given 1-2 periods away from school/class to complete these competencies.
