Reports to: Director of Student Belonging
Department: Office of Student Belonging
Rate of Pay: Maryland Minimum Wage
FSLA Status: Non-Exempt
Location of Position: Roj Student Center, McDaniel College, 2 College Hill, Westminster, MD 21157
Duration of Appointment: August 05, 2026 to May 25, 2026
Schedule: Schedule is at discretion of supervisor
Evaluation Procedures: Student workers are evaluated on a continuous basis.
Scope: The Office of Student Belonging is seeking enthusiastic, dependable, and student-centered Program Assistants to support the daily operations of the office and contribute to programs and initiatives that foster an inclusive, welcoming, and engaged campus community. Program Assistants serve as ambassadors for the Office of Student Belonging by providing excellent customer service, assisting with office operations, supporting campus events, and helping create spaces where all students feel valued and connected.
This position offers opportunities to develop leadership, communication, event planning, organization, and professional skills while making a meaningful impact on the student experience at McDaniel.
Responsibilities:
  • Welcome and assist students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors in a professional, friendly, and inclusive manner.
  • Answer office phone calls and respond to email inquiries, directing questions to appropriate staff as needed.
  • Assist with general office operations, including data entry, organizing materials, and other administrative projects.
  • Create and distribute promotional and informational materials for programs, events, and campus initiatives.
  • Represent the Office of Student Belonging by staffing information tables and engaging with members of the campus community.
  • Assist with the planning, preparation, promotion, and implementation of educational, cultural, and community-building programs and events.
  • Set up, support, and break down events, including arranging materials, technology, and room configurations.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming office environment, including the shared community spaces and the prayer/meditation room.
  • Complete additional duties and special projects as assigned to support the mission of the Office of Student Belonging.
Schedule:
  • 4-10 hours a week, Monday-Friday
  • Some evening and weekend hours may be needed
Requirements:
  • Current undergraduate student at McDaniel College
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service and a welcoming, inclusive approach to working with others.
  • Dependable, organized, and able to manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Interest in fostering belonging, inclusion, and student engagement within the McDaniel community.
