Job Title: Maintenance Assistant II Department: Operations
Reports to: Operations Manager Job Category: Non-Exempt
Position Type: Full Time Working Title: Maintenance
Statement of Purpose
Under the direct supervision of the Maintenance supervisor, Director of Facility and Food Service Manager and or the Maintenance Mechanic Lead the Maintenance Assistant II is responsible for the repair, maintenance and housekeeping of BHS owned and/or leased facilities as assigned.
Major Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performs routine and preventive maintenance, as well as unscheduled duties when needed, for example, due to a malfunction.

  • Assists maintenance Lead and tradesmen with more skilled maintenance tasks, including trouble-shooting and repairs.

  • Plumbing duties include service and repair of faucets, drains, toilets, and sinks. Clears clogged toilets and drains when necessary.

  • Replaces angle stops/shut off valves.

  • Electrical duties include replacing bulbs, switches & wall outlets as needed.

  • Replaces restrooms or kitchen exhaust fans.

  • Replaces illuminated emergency exit lights/signs.

  • Replaces battery and electrical powered smoke detectors

  • Cleans A/C vents

  • Plasters walls and ceilings, paints walls & trim, as needed with knowledge of appropriate paint to use for different projects.

  • Arranges for repair of equipment by outside vendors as needed.

  • May perform unscheduled cleaning duties as needed, for example, due to a spill or sewer back up.

  • Perform vehicle inspection before driving any BHS vehicle.

  • Moves equipment and furniture for renovation, rearrangement, and relocation of offices.

  • Works as member of the team, including assisting in orientation of any new staff, intern or volunteers.

  • Represents BHS well in all contacts. Maintains cultural sensitivity at all times.

  • Maintains familiarity with BHS policies and procedures and other applicable regulations. Performs job duties accordingly.

  • Attends meetings and participates in committees as assigned

  • Conveys respect for cultural and lifestyle diversities of clients and staff.

  • Completes all mandatory trainings in a timely manner.

  • Ability to operate required computer programs for position, including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite, electronic timekeeping system, electronic learning management system, upon hire or demonstrated competency developed within 90 days of employment.
