Job description

Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care (Yee Hong) is a recognized leader in senior care, dedicated to providing exceptional, culturally inclusive services that enhance the well-being of older adults. Yee Hong is one of the foremost providers of culturally appropriate senior care in the country, delivering high-quality resident experience and care to Chinese and other Asian seniors since 1994. The organization operates 805 long-term care beds and 308 seniors' apartment units, with an additional 224 long-term care beds opening in a new home by June 2026. In addition, Yee Hong offers four campuses of managed care, a hospice residence, and a wide range of community-based senior and caregiver support services. Through this comprehensive network, the organization serves more than 15,000 individuals annually across the Greater Toronto Area.

Operates the Centre's vehicle in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act and organization's policy to provide safe and punctual transportation services to clients

Responsibilities:

  • Operates the Centre's vehicle in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act and organization's policy to provide safe and punctual transportation services to clients

  • Works closely with Escorting Assistant, as appropriate, in picking up and transporting clients.

  • Assists clients to board and unboard the vehicle safely, with due consideration of the clients' health conditions and physical needs

  • Safely operates lifting platform of bus and secures assistive devices, if any, in the vehicle.

  • Performs external and internal circular checks of the vehicle before starting the vehicle to ensure it is in safe, working condition

  • Reports promptly to the Centre any unusual/special conditions (e.g. vehicle, weather or client condition).

  • Ensures safe arrangements for passengers and performs follow up tasks, in accordance with Centre's policies and instructions

  • Keeps the interior of the vehicle in a clean condition and takes the vehicle for routine cleaning and maintenance

  • Completes all documentation on time according to policy

  • Complies with risk management policy for worker, client and vehicle safety and data security

  • Keeps up-to-date with developments and best practices in the field

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Possesses a valid Class F Ontario Driving License

  • Minimum 3 years professional driving experience with a clean driving record

  • Understanding about vehicle maintenance preferable

  • Experience in working with seniors an asset

  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills

  • Recent satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Screen result

  • Fluencyin both English and Chinese required

  • Ability to work weekends, evenings as required for special events/functions
