Job Description

Job Summary

The Special Program Aid, under supervision, will assist the department with general administrative assistance and will work exclusively with state educator certification reporting requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide clerical support to identified by the department, use sound, independent judgment when performing duties.

  • Assist in maintaining current and confidential records and information.

  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with faculty, administrative, and classified staff.

  • Keep calendars and reports related to appointments and requests.

  • Meet regularly with the administrative and staff in the college for staff meetings, training, and/or workshops.

This document represents the major duties, responsibilities, and authorities of this job, and is not intended to be a complete list of all tasks and functions. Other duties may be assigned.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Complete required Title II Reports for accreditation purposes.

  • Process Certification requests for teacher certification and non-teacher certification.

  • Input Clinical Experience Records for teacher candidates and non-teacher candidates.

  • Input Observations for teacher candidates and non-teacher candidates.

  • Maintain Student Enrollment status: other enrolled, finisher, and removed for teacher candidates and non-teacher candidates.

  • Clear past graduates for additional needed courses and/or testing.

  • Creating completion letters for finishers that are only pending certification exam(s).

  • Remove students on ECOS for students who have left EPP programs before completing.

  • Complete Transfers forms for removed student as requested.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education - Bachelor's degree

  • Experience - One year of related experience.

  • May not be a currently enrolled undergraduate student at Texas A&M International University.

Knowledge and Abilities

Knowledge of:

  • Word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.

Ability to:

  • Multitask and work cooperatively with others.

  • Verbal and written communication skills.
