Job Description

Coordinates and delivers training/coaching for Recreation Sports staff on departmental budget processes and financial reporting. Provides instruction on budget development procedures, timelines, and expectations, while educating staff on the interpretation and use of budget reports provided to individual program areas. Serves as a resource to promote understanding and consistent application of budget-related information across the department.

Essential Duties
  • Rec Sports Finance Training Plan and deliver training to new staff responsible for these tasks and key department leadership on Rec Sports budget processes, timelines, and expectations
  • Provide instruction on the purpose, content, and use of budget reports distributed to Rec Sports functional areas
  • Develop and distribute training materials and reference resources to support understanding of budget procedures and reporting
  • Explain key financial reports and reporting tools to assist staff in understanding budget performance and account management
  • Serve as the primary point of contact during the training to address questions and clarify budget-related concepts
  • Document training content and recommendations for future budget education and onboarding efforts
What You Need to Know

Required Education and Experience
  • High school diploma
  • One year of related experience in finance and business services
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience working in Finance and Business Services at Texas A&M University
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • Financial management experience in higher education, recreational sports, or a related environment
  • Experience analyzing and projecting mandatory student fee revenue
  • Demonstrated experience in managing capital planning for recreational sports facilities
  • Experience with contract lifecycle management systems, financial reporting tools, and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems used in higher education
  • Knowledge of recreational sports business operations, revenue-generating agreements, sponsorship arrangements, donor-funded initiatives, and sports-related procurement processes
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others
