The Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University seeks a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor who will hold an administrative post of the Center of Operational Medical Director. The selected faculty member will supervise the instructors, staff and faculty within the Center of Operational Medicine including each functional area: Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Tactical and Military Medicine, Disaster Medicine, Wilderness Medicine, International Medicine, Maritime Medicine, Concierge Medicine.
Responsibilities
Administration - 30%
Supervise the instructors, staff and faculty within the Center of Operational Medicine including each functional area: Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Tactical and Military Medicine, Disaster Medicine, Wilderness Medicine, International Medicine, Maritime Medicine, Concierge Medicine.
Provide leadership for the National Training Center East for the National Disaster Life Support Foundation (NDLSF) program. Oversee and coordinate the NDLS Instructor courses domestically and internationally.
Collaborate with the AU Critical Event Preparedness and Response (CEPAR) team along with Health System Disaster coordination. Provide administrative management and instructor supervision for EMS courses and seminars.
Act as liaison with the regional and state EMS offices and other organizations such as the National Association of EMS Physicians, Georgia EMT Association, and the National Association of EMTs.
Act as liaison with FBI and GBI personnel along with other Federal and State law enforcement agency personnel. Communicate and act as a liaison for governmental agencies.
Serve as military liaison for our combined civilian/Army Emergency Medicine Residency along with other military units and programs.
Training and Education - 60%
Supervise, instruct and coordinate tactical medicine education and training courses including: TCCC, TECC, STORM.
Assure support for local Special Response Teams (SRT).
Supervise, instruct and coordinate Critical Care Transport and Critical Care Paramedic training.
Coordinate medical support for special events in the community.
Coordinate and conduct other continuing educational programs, including but not limited to Basic Trauma Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Basic Life Support, pre-hospital pediatric educational programs and EMS in-service programs.
Remain up to date on current clinical activities and current status of EMS services
Quality and Research - 10%
Assist in conducting research projects either in a clinical or laboratory setting. Identify funding opportunities and participate in grant preparation and submission.¿ Supervise our Quality Improvement processes for EMS services including our response vehicle program.
Assure that special equipment, medications and supplies required for EMS service and concierge medicine is properly maintained and functional.
Supervise the scheduling of the EMS response vehicles.
Required Qualifications
Terminal degree
Assistant Professor - Early level career as a faculty member with appropriate post graduate training
Associate Professor - Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
Professor - Senior level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:
  • Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) requirements for institutional accreditation;
  • Evidence of ability as a teacher;
  • Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
  • Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
  • Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations

Assistant Professor - Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
