Job description

RANK/TITLE:

Assistant/Associate Professor/Professor of Pathology (appointment stream)

DEPARTMENT/DIVISION:

The Department of Pathology, University of Pittsburgh, Division of Anatomic Pathology of University of Pittsburgh Medical Center - Presbyterian Hospital is seeking an Assistant Professor (up to 5 years of experience), Associate Professor (at least >5 years of experience) or Professor ( 10 years of experience), board certified in Anatomic Pathology, with specialty training and academic interest in Gastrointestinal Pathology, exclusive of hepatic pathology. The Gastrointestinal Pathology Center of Excellence consists of eight Gastrointestinal Pathologists and is known for its expertise in neoplastic and non-neoplastic gastrointestinal and pancreatobiliary diseases. UPMC - Presbyterian is the major teaching hospital of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, and is responsible for 41,000 surgical accessions with a significant GI caseload (approximately 20,000 cases), and serves as a local and regional consultation reference laboratory for Western Pennsylvania. In addition to teaching and sign out responsibilities, the Candidate would have ample opportunities for translational projects utilizing the state-of-the-art resources of our molecular genomic pathology, digital pathology, and other laboratories.

JOB DUTIES:

The Candidate would be primarily responsible for signout of biopsies and resection specimens along with eight other GI pathologists, on a clinical service devoted to gastrointestinal and pancreatobiliary pathology as part of our Center of Excellence model. Involvement in clinicopathologic studies, collaborations with clinician-scientists, and teaching of residents, fellows, and medical students is essential. Participation in other subspecialty sign outs may be possible based on the Candidate's interest.

QUALIFICATIONS:

       Must have an M.D. and Board certified in Anatomic Pathology with specialty training and academic interest in gastrointestinal pathology.

       Eligibility for medical licensure in Pennsylvania is required.

       A record of and commitment to scholarly activities and publications

       Must be able to work in the United States

  • Salary will be commensurate with experience.
