Scope:
The Department of English, Philosophy & Religion in the Getty College of Arts & Sciences at Ohio Northern University welcomes applicants for a one-year, visiting assistant professor position in creative writing, with the possibility of extending the appointment for an additional 1 or 2 years by mutual agreement.
Principal Responsibilities
The successful candidate will teach courses in creative writing, composition, and literature. Ohio Northern University faculty teach 23-25 credit hours per year. Additional responsibilities include service to the Department and College. Questions concerning the position should be directed to Dr. Jennifer Moore at j-moore.18@onu.edu.
Required Skills:
The successful candidate will be a broadly trained teacher of creative writing with pedagogical interest and publication in fiction and one other genre. The successful candidate will offer versatility in teaching courses that appeal to the university audience and majors in Creative Writing, English, and English Education. Teaching opportunities will include introductory and intermediate creative writing, freshman composition, transition experience, and literature surveys. Candidates with experience mentoring students through the publication process, managing a reading series, and advising undergraduate literary magazines are encouraged to apply. Candidates with an interest in creative writing within an interdisciplinary department are encouraged to apply.
Minimum Qualifications:
An MFA, ABD, or Ph.D. in Creative Writing or related discipline is required.
