At Eni, we are seeking a Senior Crude Trader to join Eni Trading & Shipping Inc. in Houston.

You will be responsible for developing and managing a trading portfolio and associated P&L within established risk limits. The primary focus will be on US domestic and international crude markets, with knowledge of Latin American crude markets considered a strong asset. This role will operate within an established Supply & Trading organization.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced crude trader with comprehensive knowledge of crude oil supply and demand fundamentals across US domestic and international markets, as well as a proven track record of identifying and executing global arbitrage opportunities.

Our team is also involved in marketing Eni's oil equity productions, sourcing hydrocarbons and bio feedstocks, and managing the output of our traditional and green refineries.

Main responsibilities:

  • Prioritize trading objectives and document the overall trading strategy.
  • Participate in the development of supply optimization strategies with the Global Book team.
  • Develop controlled, low-risk trading strategies that leverage existing systems and assets to generate additional profitability.
  • Build and manage relationships with existing and prospective suppliers and customers.
  • Understand and recognize the value of crude oil qualities, pipeline logistics, infrastructure, and blending opportunities.
  • Analyze market information and trends on a daily basis to identify pricing and margin optimization opportunities across the supply chain.
  • Initiate and execute trades, implement hedging strategies, and manage price risk within established limits.
  • Continuously monitor and hedge trading positions. Report price exposure and profitability through daily exposure and P&L reports to management and reconcile these reports with the Trading and Risk Middle Office functions.
  • Review and negotiate commercial and operational terms and conditions for crude oil purchase and sale agreements.
  • Provide operational oversight during the initial phases of developing an active crude oil trading business, including:
    • Monitoring quantity gains and losses during transit.
    • Verifying product quality at both loading and discharge points against contractual guarantees and expected specifications.
    • Assisting in the resolution of issues related to payment arrangements, scheduling, or contract execution.

Skills and experience required:

  • Expert knowledge of crude oil and condensate market fundamentals, including supply and demand dynamics, pricing mechanisms, blending characteristics, logistics, regulations, operations, and contractual terms related to the purchase and sale of crude oil.
  • Established industry relationships and contacts within the relevant product and geographic markets.
  • Significant experience in the physical trading of crude oil and related petroleum commodities.
  • Knowledge of and experience with derivative and hedging transactions.
  • Proven ability to develop and successfully execute trading strategies based on market analysis.
  • Expertise in identifying and executing arbitrage opportunities.
  • Experience sourcing crude streams and managing blending activities as required.
  • Expertise in managing storage facilities.
  • Strong leadership skills and work ethic, with exceptional organizational and analytical abilities.
  • Professional presence and strong interpersonal skills. Comfortable working in a multicultural environment and able to collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Self-motivated and results-driven, with the ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining sound judgment.
  • Complete fluency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including Operations, Middle Office, Back Office, and other departments.
