Substitute Teachers:
This posting is for individuals interested in substitute teaching and who hold a substitute license, formerly known as a type 39 substitute certificate, and/or a PEL license.
Primary Responsibilities: Assume responsibility for overseeing pupil behavior in class, during lunch and recess periods, if applicable. Maintain as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which the substitute teacher is assigned. Teach the lessons outlined and described in the teacher's lesson plan. Follow all policies, rules and procedures to which regular teachers are subject and which good teaching practice dictates. Enable each child to pursue his/her education as smoothly and completely as possible in the absence of the teacher.
Additional Notes: Substitute teachers are employed on a day-to-day basis and are at-will employees of the District. The District may remove a substitute teacher's name from its list of eligible substitutes at any time without prior notice. Moreover, substitute teachers may be removed from an assignment at any time if they are not performing to the District's satisfaction.
Requirements:
  • Must possess a bachelor's degree from a recognized institution of higher learning.
  • Must hold a Substitute License or Professional Educators License (PEL) issued by the Illinois State Board of Education and registered for the current school year with the Kane County Regional Office of Education.
  • Must be or have been fingerprinted at the Kane County Regional Office of Education.
  • Must complete a physical, drug screen and *optional TB test, at the applicants expense. Physical form will be provided once application is received. *TB test is required to teach in our Early Childhood Center.
