Job description

Our Lady Star of the Sea School is seeking a Kids Club (latchkey) Staff Member for the 2026-2027 school year. OLSOS is a faith-based community dedicated to bringing Jesus into our students' lives through exceptional academics and rich faith experiences. We are looking for an energetic, faith-filled individual interested in engaging students in cooperative and safe play as well as monitoring homework. The ideal candidate should possess the ability to set high behavioral expectations and manage inappropriate behavior effectively.
Qualifications:
  • High School Senior, High School diploma or higher
  • Experience working with children
  • Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills
  • Ability to remain calm and handle emergencies effectively
  • Additionally, the candidate must complete the Protecting God's Children training

Requirements and Responsibilities:
  • Create an environment where Jesus is at the center of all learning and interactions
  • Provide a caring and nurturing environment where students feel safe and cared for
  • Establishes a consistent disciplinary approach which sets high standards for student behavior, promotes self-direction and confidence, and manages inappropriate behavior effectively
  • Maintain a positive relationship with parents, Kids Club Supervisor, and administration through regular communication in a spiritual and professional manner
  • Work Monday - Friday 2:30-6:00 pm (shift ends with last student picked up)
  • Must be certified in Infant/Child and Adult CPR and First Aid (school will provide some training)
  • Complete 16 hours of Professional Development in Early Childhood topics (annually)

Prior to start, must complete:
  • Fingerprinted/Background check (through school)
  • Bloodborne Pathogens
  • Protecting God's Children Workshop (available through Archdiocese of Detroit)
  • TB test
