Temporary Registered Nurse (RN) โ€“ Medical/Surgical (Med/Surg)

Vista Health is seeking a compassionate and patient-focused Temporary Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Medical/Surgical team. The RN is responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care by assessing patient needs, developing and implementing care plans, administering treatments and medications, monitoring patient progress, educating patients and families, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary care team to promote positive outcomes.

Key responsibilities include assessing, monitoring, and documenting patient conditions and responses to treatment; developing, implementing, and updating individualized plans of care; administering medications, IV therapies, and treatments safely and accurately; collaborating with physicians, therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and discharge planning; providing patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatments, medications, and discharge instructions; recognizing changes in patient condition and responding appropriately; maintaining accurate documentation and compliance with nursing, organizational, and regulatory standards; participating in quality improvement, patient safety, and professional development activities; supervising and coordinating patient care activities with Patient Care Technicians and Unit Secretaries as assigned.

Qualifications include a graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required, BSN preferred; 2+ years of nursing experience preferred; current Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license required; current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS certification within six (6) months of hire; NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification within thirty (30) days of hire; telemetry rhythm recognition competency required; strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills; basic computer proficiency; strong organizational and time-management abilities; ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Work environment includes frequent standing, walking, lifting, and direct patient care activities; daily exposure to bloodborne pathogens and infectious diseases; ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations; personal protective equipment (PPE) required as appropriate. Additional requirements include floating to other units may be required based on operational needs; on-call and call-in support may be required.
