Job description

The Safety Manager plays a vital role in coordinating, administering and implementing NOVO Constructions Site Specific Environmental Health and Safety Program. We are seeking a candidate with strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills to support our commitment to a safe work environment.
Reporting to the corporate Safety Director and will work closely with the Superintendents, Project Managers and clients.

Duties and Responsibilities:
(Note: Additional duties may be assigned on an individual basis)
  • Perform frequent safety inspections of multiple project sites including reviewing documentation to insure all required on-site records and reports are complete, accurate and submitted per established procedures.
  • Provide safety expertise and coaching in effective hazard identification and resolution.
  • Prepare professional reports and recommend corrective actions in response to all identified deficiencies and requests for safety assistance.
  • Ensure the safety of employees, subcontractors, clients and the general public on the project.
  • Ensure compliance to NOVO Construction, Inc. Safety and Occupational Health requirements, and federal, state and local regulations.
  • Develop, coordinate, and implement project specific safety plans with project superintendents to comply with customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform comprehensive, in-depth incident investigation reports of incidents and near misses, identify root causes, develop and implement measures to prevent recurrence, and follow up to ensure long-term resolution.
  • Conduct documented safety briefings, trainings, and testing for all employees.
  • Coordinate with project team and clients to ensure all safety requirements are identified, communicated to employees, and fulfilled.
  • Ensure subcontractors understand and meet NOVO Construction, Inc. safety expectations.
  • Support the project team regarding safety efforts on the project and promote NOVO Construction, Inc. safety culture.

Skills and Qualifications:
  • OSHA 30 Hour Construction Certification.
  • CPR/AED/First Aid Certification.
  • Professional Safety Certification (i.e.: Construction Health & Safety Technician - CHST) preferred.
  • OSHA 500 Certification preferred.
  • Other professional OSHA training and competency in managing crane, fall protection, excavation, scaffolds, confined space, and heavy equipment safety preferred.
  • 5 years of full-time commercial construction experience preferred.
  • Experience working for a general or subcontractor on multi-million dollar projects preferred.
  • Ability to recognize hazardous situations & recommend corrective measures.
  • Solid understanding of construction practices and procedures including federal, state and local regulations.
  • Proficient in using a computer, tablet, cell phone and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Sharp problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities in a deadline driven environment.
  • Proactive/Time management skills.
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
  • Professional demeanor with the ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, both management and staff alike, vendors, clients, subcontractors, and others.
  • Must be able, comfortable, and familiar being on active construction sites.

Compensation and Benefits
  • Salary: $100,000.00 - $145,000.00 annually, based on qualifications and experience
  • Full time: 40 hours per week Monday-Friday on the job site
