Job description

Our Professional Liability Claims team is looking for a Liability Claims Clerk to join our team! This is an entry-level role in our Professional Liability Claims Department. You will provide administrative support to the Professional Liability Representatives and manage a case load of non-litigation files. You will work closely in a team environment and report to the Claims Operations Supervisor, Professional Liability. The position is hybrid position, allowing up to 2 days to work from home a week, and requires a commutable distance to one of our offices in Alamo, Glendale, Granite Bay or San Diego.ย

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:

  • Manage a personal case load of designated non-litigation files in accordance with Claims Department procedures

  • Update claims database and paperless files for personal case load as needed

  • Monitor activities of defense counsel and ensure compliance with the Claims Department procedures for personal case load

  • Review and approve invoices of defense counsel for personal case load

  • Assist assigned liability claims representatives with initial file data entry, including entering incidents and new claims or lawsuits, into a claims database and importing documents into an electronic document management system

  • Prepare correspondence and other documents for opening, investigating, handling, and closing files, as requested

  • Request, obtain and follow up on medical, employment or other records, as requested

  • Conduct civil index checks, as needed

  • Assists with revision, maintenance and creation of templates, as requested

  • Assist assigned liability claims representatives with retention of experts, as requested

  • Communicate effectively and follows up with counsel, members, and insureds regarding outstanding requests, as needed

  • Work with counsel or other vendors to obtain final billings, as requested

  • Other duties as requested

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma or G.E.D. required

  • Minimum of one (1) year experience as an Claims, Administrative, and/or Executive Assistant required.ย 

  • Familiarity with basic claims management and/or insurance terminology required

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment

  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

  • Self-motivated, organized, and accurate

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of internal records

Hiring base salary range: $67,000-75,000 annually depending on experience

  • This position is hourly, non-exempt.ย  Note the amount listed is the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this position. Individual rates for the same job title may differ based on their level, responsibilities, skills, and experience for a specific role.
