Job description

JOB PURPOSE:
The Interior Designer supports new construction and renovation projects across a long-term care healthcare portfolio of over 150 locations in the Southeast. This position partners closely with the Corporate Architect to implement interior design solutions that align with corporate standards, operational needs, durability requirements, and resident experience goals. The role focuses on interiors execution and standardization, allowing the Corporate Architect to concentrate on architectural leadership, planning, and external consultant coordination.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Support interior design for new construction, renovations, and capital improvement projects across the portfolio.
2. Prepare interior concept packages, space plans, finish plans, and presentation materials under direction of the Corporate Architect.
3. Develop and maintain interior finish palettes and furnishings, material standards, and design guidelines appropriate for healthcare and long-term care settings.
4. Apply corporate interior standards consistently across facilities to support branding, resident experience, and lifecycle durability.
5. Assist in evaluating materials and finishes for performance, maintenance, infection control, and long-term cost considerations.
6. Recommend interior updates or refinements based on operational feedback and facility performance.
7. Coordinate with external architects, interior consultants, and vendors as directed by the Corporate Architect.
8. Collaborate with construction, operations, and clinical teams to ensure interiors support workflow efficiency and care delivery.
9. Assist with review of interior-related design documents for accuracy and alignment with corporate standards.
10. Respond to interior design questions during construction in coordination with the Corporate Architect.
11. Review finish submittals, samples, and mockups for compliance with approved standards.
12. Assist in resolving interior-related field issues to minimize delays and change orders.
13. Coordinate furniture, artwork and accessories.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
• Strong understanding of healthcare interior design considerations, including durability, life safety, ADA, and infection control.
• Proficiency in design software (AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite; SketchUp or similar a plus).
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a structured design leadership model.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Bachelors degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or related field required.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
• Minimum of 37 years of professional interior design experience preferred.
• Healthcare, senior living, or institutional experience strongly preferred.
• Experience supporting multiple projects simultaneously in a corporate or multi site environment a plus.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: (Preferred qualifications)
• Skilled in corporate space planning and workplace layout design
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite
• Strong knowledge of building codes, ADA, and commercial compliance
• Experienced in FF&E selection, procurement, and vendor coordination
• Effective project manager with budget and timeline oversight
• Familiar with LEED, WELL, and sustainable design practice
• Strong presentation, communication, and stakeholder-management skill
