Job description

Who we are: The Orlando Pirates are a professional football team that competes in the Indoor Football League. Going into our 9th year as an organization, the Orlando Pirates have made multiple title game appearances and won the IFL Championship in 2021. The Orlando Pirates play during the spring/summer and are looking to add Football Operation Interns in our quest for another championship.
Position Overview:
The Football Operations Intern will play an integral role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the organization. This position provides hands-on experience in professional sports by assisting with practice operations, game day execution, equipment management, team logistics, and administrative responsibilities. The ideal candidate is highly organized, dependable, eager to learn, and passionate about pursuing a career in sports management or football operations. Interns will work closely with the Director of Operations, coaching staff, players, and game day personnel to help ensure the team operates efficiently both on and off the field.
This internship offers valuable exposure to the inner workings of a professional football organization and provides practical experience in event management and team operations. Candidates should be prepared to work in a fast-paced environment, perform physical tasks, and contribute wherever needed to support the success of the organization.

This internship runs from 03/01/2027 - 08/31/2027.
Responsibilities:
  • Support day-to-day operations through tasks such as practice/game setup and breakdown, office organization, inventory management, and administrative support
  • Help organize the creation and execution of in-game promotions, pregame and intermission contests, and other other in game events
  • Support game day operations including locker room preparation, equipment distribution, and player needs.
  • Coordinate practice logistics by ensuring fields, equipment, and training materials are prepared before each session.
  • Assist with inventory management, organization, and maintenance of team equipment and supplies.
  • Support travel logistics, including loading equipment, preparing travel materials, and assisting with team transportation needs.
  • Assist with statistical tracking, game reports, and other administrative tasks as assigned.
  • Maintain a professional and positive representation of the organization when interacting with players, coaches, sponsors, and fans.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Operations and team leadership.

Skills and Qualifications:
  • Must be a current college student receiving academic credit through an internship course.
  • Pursuing a degree in Sport Management, Sports Business, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of football operations and the game of football is preferred.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be available to work a minimum of 20 hours per week.
  • Must be available for at least two morning practices per week and all home game days.
  • Must be willing and able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the team schedule.
  • Must possess reliable transportation to and from practices, games, and team events.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills are preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
