POSITION SUMMARY:
The primary focus of this position is systems architecture and infrastructure engineering, with a secondary focus on image science, projector support, and DaVinci Resolve support. The role requires expertise in systems administration and architecture alongside foundational programming ability. The successful candidate will help shape future architecture while evaluating and integrating third-party hardware, software, and workflow solutions to sustain operations across a multi-site, world-class facility. The role also demands advanced knowledge of color science, DaVinci Resolve workflows, streaming and remote-review technologies, and networking. 
MAIN DUTIES:
The Senior Systems Engineer will partner with management, decision makers, and stakeholders to define business and operational requirements and systems goals, identifying and deploying new systems and resolving operational systems issues. They will be deploying and administering Linux, MacOS, Windows, and SAN/NAS systems, and resolving complex technical problems across the IT infrastructure in a fast-paced production environment. In addition, they will serve as an escalation point for client Tier 1 support, as well as more complex problem solving and research with Senior Engineering leadership. The Senior Systems Engineer will also be responsible for the following:
  • Consult with users to determine hardware, software, and system functional specifications.
  • Design, develop, document, analyze, test, and modify the company's computer systems and programs based on user and system design specifications.
  • Design, deploy, and manage virtual infrastructure, including VM provisioning and lifecycle management under Proxmox VE (clustering, storage, backups, and resource allocation).
  • Maintain and manage New York projectors and mastering monitors with a focus on image science and DaVinci Resolve workflows.
  • Support the facility's color suites end to end, including grading systems, associated hardware, and workflow integration.  
  • Configure and support streaming and remote-review platforms such as Sohonet Pivot, DaVinci Remote Monitor, and the Colorfront Streaming Server. 
  • Communicate effectively with technical staff, other functional teams, management, and customers.  
  • Provide technical management of physical and virtual systems, including servers and storage. Rack and cable systems across our Machine Rooms and Data Centers 
  • Troubleshoot and resolve IT service issues related to operating systems and servers.
  • Install, configure, and monitor Linux (RHEL/CentOS), Windows, and macOS along with their applicable software.
  • Support SDI infrastructure and video routing across post-production environments.
  • Maintain systems documentation and procedures in Confluence, and track work and incidents in Jira.  
  • Write documentation for the technical support staff on systems-related procedures 
 

WHAT YOU BRING:

The ideal candidate will have proven working experience in the field of information technology. They must have experience with Linux shell scripting (or another scripting language), SAN/NAS Storage Administration (StorNext/Quantum or equivalent), and have intermediate to advanced Linux administration skills. Additional desired skills include: 
  • Strong networking proficiency, including configuration and troubleshooting for high-bandwidth media workflows.  
  • Flexibility and the ability to multitask across numerous and diverse responsibilities.  
  • A team player who is also capable of independent work, study, and analysis.  
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  
  • Server and desktop hardware knowledge.  
  • Availability to respond after-hours, on weekends, and on holidays on an on-call basis. 
  • Experience with Linux automation, Ansible a plus
  • Experience deploying and managing virtualization platforms, particularly Proxmox VE, is a plus.
  • Familiarity with color science and professional color grading pipelines (DaVinci Resolve, Colorfront Transkoder, and similar) is a plus.
  • Experience with SDI/video routing and signal infrastructure is a plus. 
  • Active Directory administration is a plus.
  • Fibre Channel switch administration (Brocade) is a plus.
