Hours/Work Schedule: ScheduleCollege Business Hours are 8:30am - 4:30pm. This is a part time position, working 25 hours per week. Schedule may vary depending on demand.
Working Conditions: This position will mostly be located in a typical indoor office setting, with occasional outdoor exposure for events, marketing campaigns, etc. Flexibility in scheduling, including occasional evenings and weekends, and travel to other campuses, educational sites, off campus meetings, and training workshops and seminars may be required.
Physical Duties: Most of the job is sedentary. Occasional periods of lightwork may be required. Basic Statement of Responsibilities
Lead innovative ideas and conceptual development for marketing projects that drive the
ACM brand and produce enrollment growth. Responsible for collaborating with other
staff on creative concepts for a variety of integrated marketing channels to support the
Strategic Marketing Plan and College's mission and goals.
Essential Functions
  1. Develops creative strategy for a variety of integrated marketing channels to support marketing and communications efforts, including, but not limited to, advertisements for digital, print, and radio; website and social media copy; print publications, e-newsletters, display windows, and special event publications.
  2. Engages with students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors, parents and other constituents to comprehensively promote Allegany College of Maryland's programs, services, and partnerships through a variety of integrated marketing channels.

  1. Creates compelling and persuasive copy for advertising campaigns to engage a variety of audiences (e.g., traditional and non-traditional students, parents, community members).

  1. Assists with conceptual development and production for college displays.

  1. Assists with scripting and storyboarding for audio and video projects.

  1. Assists with copy and design for marketing materials including, but not limited to, view books, new student recruitment publications, donor booklet, Advancement specialty publications, prospective student emails, and parent emails.

  1. Assists with shooting and producing videos and TV spots, taking photographs, and enhancing social media engagement.

  1. Helps determine keywords/metatags for search engine optimization (SEO) and ideas on how to maximize internet rankings and engagement for enrollment among target populations.

  1. Analyzes and measures the success of creative campaigns.

  1. Assists with preparation of special events.

  1. Stays up to date on marketing, advertising, and higher education trends to make recommendations for adjustments to strategies and practices.

Education, Experience, and Specialized Skills
Bachelor's degree required with preference in marketing, communications or advertising; 2+ years of experience in marketing, advertising, creative strategy or related field preferred. Excellent creativity, visual design, and oral and written communication skills. Detail and deadline oriented with effective planning skills and ability to manage projects from conception to publishing. Basic knowledge of and/or ability to learn multimedia technology applications (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Google Slides, Meta Business Suite and email software). Experience with photography, videography, graphic design and/or social media platforms preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Overall knowledge of the college, its programs, and its services. Knowledge of marketing platforms is fundamental, as is the ability to develop creative concepts for various audiences.

  • Professional Development Opportunities: All employees are welcome to participate in College sponsored professional development activities.
  • Sick and Safe Leave - Part-time employees who will regularly work 12 or more hours per week will earn paid sick and safe leave. Eligible part-time employees will earn 1 hour of sick and safe leave for every 30 hours that they work. Part-time employees may accrue up to 40 hours of sick and safe leave in a fiscal year, carryover a balance of 40 hours per year; sick and safe leave hours are limited to earning and accruing up to 64 hours per year.
  • Holidays - Part-time employees may enjoy the 17 official college holidays, however they will not be compensated for these days.
  • Bereavement Leave: Eligible part-time employees are provided paid leave of up to three normally scheduled work days for the death of an immediate family member.
  • Military - part-time employees who are in the uniformed services can take accrued annual, or leave without pay, to serve in
    the uniformed services.
  • Family and Medical Leave - FMLA entitles eligible employees to take up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave in a rolling 12-month period measured backward from the date an employee uses any FMLA leave for specified family and medical reasons.
  • Flexible Spending Accounts - Employees can obtain a medical reimbursement account and/or a dependent care assistance account effective the first of the month following the employee's date of hire. Employees do not need to enroll in the college's medical or dental plan to be eligible for flexible spending accounts.
  • Supplemental Retirement Accounts - All employees who normally work 20 hours or more per week can make tax-deferred supplemental retirement contributions to any of the supplemental retirement funds offered by the college.

  • College Facility Usage - Allegany College of Maryland's facilities include, the Fitness Center, which includes treadmills, bikes, ellipticals, rowing
    machines, hand weights, big weights, nautilus equipment, gymnasium, and outside tracks, which include the mile track and the quarter mile track.
