Onyx Government Services, LLC., is a Service-Disable Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), headquartered in Fairfax, Virginia. We specialize in data management, integration, and analysis solutions to provide decision-ready information to Command and Control (C2) and Decision Support Systems. We have demonstrated expertise in the field of Information Technology, database & COTS integration, and custom software development. Onyx pairs subject matter and functional experts with developers to provide high quality, tailored solutions. In support of our various efforts, we have developed the Onyx Data Management Toolkit, a combination of Agile Development principles, COTS Integration, and custom software, to deliver flexible, cost-effective solutions to a variety of Department of Defense, Intelligence Community, and Law Enforcement agencies.
Position Overview
Onyx Government Service is seeking a Sr. Data Modeler to support the development and implementation of an enterprise data model for a large-scale government technology modernization initiative. The Senior Data Modeler will work closely with business stakeholders, enterprise architects, application teams, and an OCIO contractor to establish a scalable enterprise data model supporting multiple critical business domains, including permits, labels, formulas, and tax data.
The successful candidate will have strong hands-on experience with erwin Data Modeler and demonstrated expertise developing conceptual, logical, and physical data models for complex enterprise systems. This role requires someone who can translate business requirements into effective data models and work directly with stakeholders to validate and refine those models.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 7+ years of professional experience in data modeling, enterprise data architecture, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience using erwin Data Modeler (required).
  • Strong experience developing and maintaining conceptual, logical, and physical data models for complex enterprise systems.
  • Experience translating complex business and functional requirements into enterprise data models.
  • Strong understanding of relational database concepts, normalization, entity-relationship modeling, primary and foreign keys, data integrity, and data standards.
  • Experience defining entities, attributes, relationships, business rules, and data definitions across multiple business domains.
  • Experience working directly with business stakeholders, subject matter experts, architects, developers, and other technical teams to validate and refine data models.
  • Experience developing enterprise data models that support multiple applications, business processes, and data domains.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise data architecture, data integration, master data, reference data, and data governance concepts.
  • Ability to document data models, business rules, data definitions, assumptions, and modeling decisions clearly.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to facilitate data modeling sessions and explain complex data concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting federal government or other highly regulated environments.
  • Experience modeling regulatory, tax, permitting, licensing, compliance, or financial data.
  • Experience designing data models for complex, large-scale enterprise systems.
  • Experience collaborating with government agencies, OCIO organizations, contractors, and multiple technical teams.
  • Experience with data governance, data standards, metadata management, and enterprise data management.
  • Experience with modern cloud-based application and data architectures.
  • Familiarity with APIs, data integration, and enterprise application architectures.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
Security Clearance: Must possess active NACLC Public Trust security clearance
Salary Range: $150,000- $170,000 annually
The salary range for this position represents the anticipated compensation at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as the candidate's qualifications, experience, education, skills, contract requirements, funding and other business considerations.
