What is a professional consultant?

Professional consultants are experts who provide advice, guidance, and solutions to organizations or individuals in a specific field, such as business, management, finance, IT, or human resources. They analyze problems, identify opportunities for improvement, and help clients implement effective strategies to achieve their goals. Consultants may work independently or as part of a consulting firm, often bringing specialized knowledge and an objective perspective to the challenges their clients face.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a professional consultant?

To thrive as a Professional Consultant, you need strong analytical abilities, problem-solving skills, and relevant industry expertise, often supported by a bachelor's or master's degree. Familiarity with project management tools, data analysis software, and relevant certifications (such as PMP or Lean Six Sigma) is typically required. Exceptional communication, adaptability, and relationship-building skills help consultants effectively work with clients and teams. These competencies are essential for delivering valuable insights, driving client success, and sustaining a competitive edge in the consulting industry.

What are some common challenges faced by professional consultants when working with new clients?

Professional consultants often encounter challenges such as quickly understanding a client's unique business environment, establishing trust, and managing stakeholder expectations. Each client may have different communication styles, priorities, and organizational cultures, requiring consultants to be highly adaptable and proactive in their approach. Navigating ambiguity and aligning project goals with client needs are essential skills, and successful consultants often rely on strong interpersonal abilities and structured project management techniques to overcome these hurdles.

This is an in-home consultative sales role where you’ll meet with customers at pre-set appointments scheduled by our team—no cold calling, no prospecting.
You’ll guide customers through product options, take accurate measurements, create design recommendations, and close the sale—all while delivering an exceptional customer experience.
What You’ll Sell
Our Design Consultants offer a wide range of solutions including:
    •    Roller shades, cellular shades, solar shades, and more
    •    Wood and composite shutters
    •    Motorized interior shades
    •    Motorized screen shades for patios and lanais
    •    Aluminum pergolas and exterior structures
    •    Custom solutions tailored to each home and lifestyle
Key Responsibilities
    •    Attend company-provided, pre-set in-home appointments with qualified customers
    •    Conduct a professional consultation: identify needs, style preferences, and functional goals
    •    Educate customers on product features, materials, and upgrade options (including motorization)
    •    Take precise measurements and document details for quoting and ordering
    •    Prepare and present pricing, proposals, and design recommendations
    •    Confidently close sales and guide customers through next steps
    •    Maintain accurate customer notes and follow-ups in CRM
    •    Work closely with the scheduling, operations, and installation teams to ensure smooth project handoff
    •    Represent the company with professionalism and a customer-first mindset
Schedule & Flexibility
This position offers a very flexible schedule with appointment availability that may include evenings depending on customer needs. You’ll manage your time independently while meeting performance expectations.
What We’re Looking For
Must-Haves:
    •    Strong sales skills and comfort in a one-on-one consultative environment
    •    Professional, personable communication and presentation skills
    •    Confidence discussing premium products and high-ticket projects
    •    Strong attention to detail (measurement accuracy is essential)
    •    Ability to learn product offerings quickly and stay current as new products are introduced
Compensation
    •    Competitive commission structure
    •    Paid training and product education
    •    Company-provided leads and pre-set appointments
    •    Growth opportunities into senior sales or leadership roles
Why Join Us?
    •    No prospecting—our team schedules your appointments
    •    A high-demand product category with strong upsell potential (motorization, exterior solutions)
    •    Ability to build relationships and help homeowners improve their everyday comfort and style
    •    Flexible schedule and performance-driven earnings
Ready to Apply?
If you love helping customers, enjoy design, and want a flexible, high-income sales role with pre-set appointments, we’d love to hear from you.
