OVERVIEW
JOB TITLE: PR/Communications Assistant
LOCATION: St. Paul CampusPAY RATE: 16.50
JOB SUMMARY
The PR/Communications team within the University of St. Thomas Marketing, Insights and Communications department is seeking an organized, detail-oriented student to support communications operations, including the St. Thomas Newsroom.
The PR/Communications Assistant will help publish and organize content, support the biweekly Newsroom newsletter, monitor communications inboxes and assist Communications and Public Relations staff with projects. This position provides hands-on experience with public relations, digital publishing, editorial planning and professional communications.
This position may be eligible for internship credit in the second semester, in addition to hourly pay.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Gather and load content for the biweekly Newsroom newsletter
  • Publish and format stories and other content in WordPress
  • Create Professional Notes and assist with In the News items as needed
  • Upload images and add metadata, alt text and photo captions
  • Monitor Newsroom and St. Thomas magazine inboxes and route information as appropriate
  • Update school, college and other Newsroom landing pages
  • Assist with basic quality checks before publication
  • Help maintain content calendars, planning documents and Communications/PR spreadsheets
  • Assist Communications and Public Relations staff with research, tracking and other projects as needed

To be eligible for student employment, St. Thomas students must be degree seeking at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels.
