The main job responsibility is coaching and guiding our top sectional and national players to the next level. The ideal candidate would be task-oriented, proactive, pay close attention to detail, have appropriate communication skill to provide a member first experience. Other expectations include overseeing and participating in tennis tournaments, mixers and other related tennis functions.

Located in Rochester, Minnesota, the Rochester Athletic Club (RAC) is one of the premier athletic and tennis facilities in the Midwest. RAC features 11 indoor temperature-controlled courts, six outdoor clay courts, and a nationally recognized racquet sports program that serves players of all ages and abilities. The club has been recognized as a USTA Facility of the Year and offers comprehensive junior development pathways through its ROGY (Red, Orange, Green, Yellow) Tennis and RAC Tennis Academy programs. We also feature 8 outdoor and 6 indoor pickleball courts.
Position SummaryThe Rochester Athletic Club is seeking an energetic, organized, and passionate tennis professional to lead and grow our 10 & Under Tennis programming. This individual will oversee all aspects of junior beginner and developmental programming for players ages 4-10, while helping foster a fun, welcoming, and pathway-driven environment for young athletes and families.
The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about youth development, excels at communication with parents and staff, and is committed to building a strong foundation for lifelong participation and competitive growth in tennis.
Key ResponsibilitiesProgram Development & Management- Lead and oversee all 10 & Under Tennis programming, including:
- Red Ball, Orange Ball, Green Ball and Yellow Ball pathways
- Beginner and intermediate junior clinics
- Camps, play days, leagues, and special events
- Introductory tennis programs and community outreach initiatives
- Develop seasonal lesson plans and curriculum aligned with USTA Net Generation and RAC programming philosophy.
- Collaborate with the Racquet Sports Director and RAC tennis staff to create seamless player development pathways.
- Monitor enrollment, retention, and class progression to maximize participation and member satisfaction.
Coaching & Player Development- Deliver high-quality instruction in both group and private lesson settings.
- Create a positive, energetic, and age-appropriate learning environment for junior players.
- Focus on athletic development, movement, coordination, sportsmanship, teamwork, and foundational tennis skills.
- Evaluate player progression and provide regular feedback to parents and families.
Staff Leadership- Assist with recruiting, training, mentoring, and supervising assistant coaches and 10U staff.
- Maintain consistent teaching standards and program quality across all 10 & Under programming.
- Coordinate scheduling, court assignments, and staffing needs for junior activities.
Parent & Member Engagement- Serve as a primary contact for parents regarding player placement, development, and program recommendations.
- Build strong relationships with RAC members and families to create a welcoming club environment.
- Support program marketing efforts through club communications, special events, and community engagement.
Events & Community Outreach- Organize junior tournaments, play days, family events, and seasonal camps.
- Support school outreach and introductory tennis initiatives designed to grow participation.
- Assist with RAC racquet sports events and club-wide programming initiatives.
Qualifications- Previous experience coaching junior tennis players, particularly ages 4-10.
- Strong understanding of USTA 10 & Under Tennis and player development principles.
- USPTA or PTR certification preferred.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented club environment.
- CPR/AED and SafeSport certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Passion for creating a positive and engaging youth sports experience.
