The Croton-Harmon School District has an anticipated opening for a qualified driver for school runs and will provide training and support. This is a 10-month position with a guarantee of 5 hours per day at $31.65 per hour. This is a great job for stay-at-home parents, retirees, or anyone looking for extra income. When you work as a professional bus driver, your primary responsibility is to transport students from home and to school safely. You typically travel a predetermined route, or you may drive to a single long-distance location. Your job duties include stopping to let students on and off the school vehicle at home and at school, and maintaining order on your bus. You must know your route well, stay alert in bad traffic or weather conditions, and follow safety rules of the road.
Qualifications:
  • Experienced bus drivers that have a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) Class B, with P and S endorsements preferred. (School Bus & Passenger Endorsements)
  • Candidates will need to have a clean driving record with at least three years personal driving experience.
  • Be able to pass a DOT physical, pre-employment drug test and criminal background check
  • Be over 21 years of age.
  • 20/20 vision with or without glasses or contacts

Responsibilities:
  • Perform beginning-shift vehicle inspections before departure (AM) & at the end of day (PM)
  • Complete bus route on schedule while stopping at all stops, while making sure kids are safe
  • Safely transport students
  • Assist disabled children in & out of the vehicle
  • Help with loading book bags & buckling seat belts
  • Report all mechanical issues to service manager immediately
  • Obey all traffic laws
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary bus at all times
  • Follow all the CDC guidelines
