Overview

Act as a trusted advisor and technical expert in complex individual and family client relationships for high and ultrahigh net worth clients who require sophisticated, multidisciplinary wealth planning. This role is responsible for the development of a comprehensive personal and financial wealth profile, identification of wealthrelated goals, and the design and implementation of integrated wealth plans. The role combines deep technical expertise with collaborative delivery of Northern Trust's full wealth management capabilities.

What You'll DoClient & Wealth Planning Advisory
  • Develop a comprehensive personal and financial wealth profile for clients and their families, including identification of wealthrelated life goals, in collaboration with the Lead Relationship Manager, if applicable.
  • Design and implement wealth plans integrating wealth management, wealth transfer, and tax efficiency objectives in collaboration with client professional advisors and Northern Trust partners.
  • Collaborate with the Regional Wealth Advisor in the design and modeling of wealth plans for ultrahigh net worth clients, where a Regional Wealth Advisor is engaged.
  • Work closely with the Portfolio Manager, Regional Wealth Advisor, Trust Advisor, Banker, and other Northern Trust professionals to implement client wealth plans.
  • Monitor, review, and periodically update client wealth plans to reflect changes in goals, circumstances, and regulatory or tax environments.
  • Apply advanced technical and analytical expertise to deliver customized, advicedriven solutions aligned with client objectives.
Business Development & Relationship Expansion
  • Actively assist in the sales process and identify opportunities to expand client relationships through the introduction of Northern Trust products and services.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of Northern Trust capabilities and partner across the organization to deliver integrated wealth management solutions.
  • Actively engage in the cultivation of professional advisor relationships, including attendance and participation in professional conferences and advisor networks.
Leadership & Subject Matter Expertise
  • Serve as a mentor to Associate Wealth Advisors and Wealth Advisors.
  • Operate independently with indepth knowledge of the business unit and function.
  • Provide comprehensive, highlevel consulting and leadership as a subject matter expert to teams and partners.
  • Carry out activities that are large in scope, crossfunctional, and technically complex.
  • Balance highlevel operational execution with development and execution of strategic direction for business function activities.
  • Conduct preliminary analyses and provide technical guidance for complex planning matters.
  • Interact directly with committees and/or management as required.
  • Strategically develop, implement, and administer programs within functional areas.

Knowledge

Strong knowledge of wealth transfer planning, taxation, estate planning solutions, and wealth management products and services, typically acquired through extensive experience working with high and ultrahigh net worth individuals and families in financial services, law, or consulting. Broadbased technical and analytical expertise in wealth planning, wealth transfer, tax, philanthropy, fiduciary practice, asset location and preservation, and related disciplines. Strong interpersonal skills and proactive consultative approach.

Experience

7-10 years of comprehensive wealth planning experience working with high and ultrahigh net worth individuals and families. Advanced educational and professional designations such as CFP, JD, MBA, or similar evidence of advanced learning and professional consulting qualifications are desired.
