The Production Supervisor is responsible for directing production employees on the production floor during the assigned shift. The production supervisor will be legally obligated and responsible to enforce all food safety requirements, Good Manufacturing Practices and compliance to Standard Operating Procedures to ensure safe, quality products are delivered to our customers.
Primary Job Duties:
  • Directs the activities of the department on assigned shift in order to meet production schedule. Meets with prior shift supervisors to communicate and manage any issues from the prior shift. Reviews list of the current production run.
  • Walks the entire make-up floor recording all pertinent information on the proper sheets. Supervises, trains and directs production personnel.
  • Addresses any employee issues and reports complaints/concerns to the proper manager (i.e. Plant Manger, Production Superintendent, HR Manager)
  • Monitors employee performance on a daily basis by doing frequent walk- throughs of the work area and reviewing related work.
  • Participates in the disciplinary process by issuing corrective actions in accordance with the union contract and other related company policies & procedures and communicating with the appropriate contacts (i.e. Superintendent, HR Manager).
  • Makes adjustments in personnel assignments to cover absenteeism and emergencies. Notes employee absences & lateness on the absence report.
  • Ensures that employees are doing their required work including, but not limited to: Quality Check sheets, dough schedule recording, taking temperatures of product, house keeping and working in a safe manner.
  • Fills out a shift report for each day worked. Communicates any major issues to the proper Manager.

Safety:
  • Maintains safe working environment for all employees/contractors/visitors by following safety guidelines and reporting all incidents to management.
  • Participates in incident/accident investigations and completes required paperwork. Promotes employee safety in all areas of operations.

Sanitation:
  • Ensures department personnel maintain cleanliness of the work area.
  • Ensures proper GMPs are followed at all times and takes necessary corrective action for violations. Other related duties as assigned by Plant Manager or Production Superintendent.

Essential Job Function/Requirements:
  • 3 or more years working in a production environment preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or a combination of experience & technical training. Completion of formal management skills training program to include certification as required is preferred. (i.e. MDP, AIB, etc.)
  • Must have a general knowledge of how production machinery works.

Essential Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and push and pull heavy wheeled equipment or carts in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time during a shift, maintaining a normal range of motion in all extremities.
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, and crouch to access equipment, tools, or materials.
  • Ability to use arms, hands and fingers to handle or operate machinery, tools or controls.
  • Ability to perceive and respond immediately to visual and audible safety alerts and warnings to ensure the safety of self and others in a fast-paced, hazard-sensitive environment with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to work in environments with varying temperatures, noise levels, and airborne particles, odors and fumes.
  • Ability to climb stairs, ladders, or work platforms as required by the position.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods using office equipment and computer systems.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and protective clothing for extended periods of time, with or without reasonable accommodation.
