Position: Quality Manager
Job Type: Direct Hire | Full Time
Compensation: $90,000–$115,000
Location: Grand Haven, MI | Onsite

About this role:

We are seeking a hands-on Quality Manager to lead and continuously improve a comprehensive quality management system within a manufacturing environment. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring product quality, driving process improvements, and leading cross-functional initiatives to enhance operational performance.

The ideal candidate is a proactive leader who thrives on solving complex quality challenges, engaging directly with production teams, and implementing sustainable improvements on the shop floor.

Responsibilities of the Quality Manager:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Quality team, including hiring, training, and performance management
  • Oversee and improve the Quality Management System in alignment with IATF 16949 and customer requirements
  • Ensure all products meet defined quality standards, customer expectations, and regulatory requirements
  • Establish and track key quality metrics (PPM, scrap, rework, cost of poor quality)
  • Lead internal, customer, and third-party audits, including certification readiness and compliance activities
  • Drive APQP processes and approve PPAP submissions, PFMEAs, and control plans
  • Implement and maintain process controls, including SPC and capability analysis
  • Lead root cause investigations and corrective actions for internal and customer quality issues
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, engineering, and supply chain to drive improvements
  • Manage supplier quality performance and support escalation/resolution of supplier issues
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve yield, reduce defects, and increase efficiency
  • Report quality performance and improvement initiatives to leadership
  • Serve as the final authority for quality-related decisions, including product release and deviations

Required Skills of the Quality Manager:

  • Strong expertise in:
    • IATF 16949 standards
    • APQP / PPAP processes
    • FMEA, SPC, and MSA methodologies
    • Root cause problem-solving tools (8D, 5 Whys, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and drive measurable process improvements
  • Hands-on approach with strong presence on the production floor
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments
  • Experience working with suppliers and customers on quality-related issues
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with strong analytical capabilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Skills of the Quality Manager:
  • Proven experience in a Quality Manager or senior quality leadership role within manufacturing
  • Familiarity with ERP/MES systems
  • Experience in high-precision or automated manufacturing environments
  • Professional certifications in quality or continuous improvement
