Job description

Role: QA/QC Manager
Employment Type: Full-Time
Location: Austin, TX (50% travel to project sites)

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced QA/QC Manager to lead and implement quality assurance and quality control systems across utility-scale solar PV and BESS construction projects. This role is responsible for field inspections, QA/QC strategy development, subcontractor oversight, and ensuring all work meets technical specifications, safety standards, and project quality requirements from construction through commissioning and handover.

Key Responsibilities:

  • QA/QC System Development: Develop, implement, and continuously improve the project QA/QC strategy and quality management systems (QMS)

  • Quality Planning: Review and approve Contractor Quality Plans (PQP), Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), and QA/QC checklists

  • Site Inspections: Conduct field inspections and milestone walkdowns for PV and BESS construction activities including electrical, civil, and mechanical scopes

  • Construction Oversight: Ensure compliance across MV/HV systems, substations, transformers, switchgear, inverters, trackers, modules, SCADA systems, and BESS installations

  • Civil Works Quality: Review compaction reports, concrete testing, grading, drainage, foundations, and structural work quality

  • Documentation Control: Maintain QA/QC records including inspection reports, material submittals, test records, and as-built documentation

  • Non-Conformance Management: Identify defects, issue NCRs, and coordinate corrective actions with EPC contractors and site teams

  • Reporting: Provide weekly and monthly QA/QC performance reports, risk updates, and issue resolution tracking

  • Coordination: Lead QA/QC meetings with EPC contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders

  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to ISO 9001, OSHA, and project-specific quality standards

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of QA/QC experience in utility-scale PV solar and/or BESS energy projects

  • Strong experience in construction QA/QC systems and field inspection processes

  • Experience developing and managing ITPs, PQPs, and QA/QC documentation

  • Hands-on experience with PV modules, inverters, transformers, switchgear, PCS, and BESS systems

  • Strong knowledge of civil and electrical construction quality standards

  • Experience with non-conformance reporting (NCRs) and corrective action processes

  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 and OSHA standards

  • Strong documentation, reporting, and MS Office proficiency

  • Ability to travel to project sites (~50%) and work in field environments

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
