Job Description

This role focuses on leading large-scale wastewater treatment plant renovation and improvement projects, typically ranging from $40 million to $100 million, across multiple sites in the Greater Toronto Area. The Project Manager oversees all phases of construction delivery for water and wastewater projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in full compliance with municipal requirements and contract specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of wastewater and water treatment plant renovation and improvement projects valued at $50 million and above.
  • Plan, organize, and manage project scope, schedule, budget, and resources for multiple projects across the Greater Toronto Area.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders, including municipalities, internal teams, subcontractors, and consultants.
  • Manage subcontractors on site, including selection, coordination, performance oversight, and adherence to contractual obligations.
  • Oversee day-to-day construction activities, ensuring work is executed according to design, specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements.
  • Administer contracts, including preparing, reviewing, and processing change orders, RFIs, and other project documentation.

  • Coordinate with municipal representatives and regulatory authorities to ensure compliance with applicable codes, permits, and regulations.
  • Review project drawings, specifications, and technical documents to anticipate construction challenges and propose practical solutions.
  • Prepare and present project reports, updates, and forecasts to internal stakeholders and clients, including cost and schedule performance.
  • Support project scheduling and sequencing of work to optimize productivity and minimize disruption to existing plant operations.
  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture on site, ensuring all team members and subcontractors follow safety policies and procedures.
  • Travel to project sites across the GTA, including locations such as Burlington and Caledon, to oversee construction activities and attend meetings as required.

  • Solid understanding of construction processes, standards, and best practices in the water/wastewater sector.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective stakeholder management.
  • Proven organizational and problem-solving skills in fast-paced project environments.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Ability to build strong relationships with municipal representatives and other external stakeholders.
  • Capability to handle multiple concurrent projects and shifting priorities.
  • Interest in long-term career growth within large, complex infrastructure projects.
