Job Description Production Operative North Shields, Tyne & Wear Permanent | Day Shift Monday to Friday, 7:30am - 3:30pm 25,754.48 rising to 27,853.46 following successful completion of a 6-month probation period A well-established manufacturing business in North Shields is seeking a motivated and reliable Production Operative to join its growing team. The Role The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting day-to-day manufacturing operations, ensuring products are produced safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards
Key Responsibilities Carry out manufacturing and assembly tasks to agreed quality and production standards. Follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and contribute to the development of new procedures where required. Operate, monitor, and clean production machinery, assembly equipment, and hand-held tools.
Conduct quality checks and basic testing throughout the manufacturing process. Escalate production issues and collaborate with relevant teams to identify solutions. Maintain accurate records of materials used, defects identified, and scrapped materials.
Ensure production targets and customer requirements are met in a timely and cost-effective manner. Maintain excellent housekeeping standards, keeping work areas clean, organised, and free from hazards. Store and handle raw materials and finished goods safely within the factory environment.
Operate lifting equipment and forklift trucks where trained and authorised. Adhere to all health, safety, quality, and operational procedures. Report faulty machinery, equipment issues, or production concerns to supervisors promptly.
Support continuous improvement activities and contribute to a positive team environment. About You The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, dependable, and committed to delivering high-quality work. Skills & Experience Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify defects or errors.
Ability to work independently and use initiative when required. Excellent time management skills and ability to work to deadlines. Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Customer-focused approach. Positive attitude and commitment to continuous improvement. Ability to interpret technical specifications and manufacturing information.
Understanding of health, safety, and quality standards within a manufacturing environment. Respectful and professional in all interactions with colleagues and stakeholders. Qualifications GCSE (or equivalent) Grade A-C / 4-9 in Maths and English.
