Job description

Description

Shift: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday 10 hour days

United Plastic Fabricating (UPF) is looking for an experienced Production Supervisor / Manufacturing  Supervisor to lead our weekend manufacturing team.

We're looking for a hands-on leader who enjoys developing people, solving production problems, and improving how work gets done. This isn't a role where success means simply keeping the shift running.  Our strongest supervisors understand the entire production environment (people, materials, equipment, quality, safety, production flow, and changing priorities) and can see problems developing before they disrupt the operation.

What You'll Own

  • Lead day-to-day manufacturing and production operations for your shift.
  • Build a strong, accountable team focused on safety, quality, productivity, and delivery.
  • Maintain a visible, hands-on presence on the production floor.
  • Manage staffing, workflow, materials, equipment, and changing production priorities to maintain effective production flow and cadence.
  • Identify bottlenecks, constraints, quality concerns, and production interruptions before they become larger problems.
  • Understand how upstream and downstream manufacturing processes affect one another and make decisions with the entire production system in mind.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing issues and partner with Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, Materials, and Operations to solve root causes.
  • Coach and develop employees while maintaining clear expectations and accountability.
  • Support lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, process improvement, and operational excellence.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce waste, rework, delays, and recurring production problems.

What Success Looks Like

A successful Production Supervisor doesn't simply react quickly when something goes wrong. They create an operation where fewer things go wrong in the first place.

Requirements

 What You Bring

  • Previous experience as a Production Supervisor, Manufacturing Supervisor, Operations Supervisor, Shift Supervisor, Production Lead, Manufacturing Team Lead, or similar manufacturing leadership role.
  • Experience leading teams in a manufacturing, fabrication, production, or assembly environment.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root-cause problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to understand manufacturing systems, production flow, bottlenecks, constraints, and downstream impacts.
  • Experience managing staffing, workflow, production priorities, and changing operating conditions.
  • Strong communication, coaching, and people leadership skills.
  • Mechanical or technical aptitude and comfort working in a hands-on manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to use production information, operating data, and computer systems to make decisions.
  • Strong ownership, judgment, urgency, and follow-through.
  • A genuine interest in continuous improvement and helping both people and processes perform better.

Experience in high-mix/low-volume manufacturing, flow manufacturing, assembly operations, custom manufacturing, lean manufacturing, production line balancing, or technical fabrication environments is especially valuable.

A bachelor's degree in engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, or a related discipline is desired, but strong manufacturing leadership and systems knowledge gained through experience are equally important.

 What We Offer

  • 4-Day Work Week
  • Paid Time Off
  • Profit Sharing Program - potential to earn an extra paycheck per month
  • Health, Dental, Vision and Life Insurance
  • Paid Parental Leave
  • Short-Term and Long-Term Disability
  • Paid Holidays
  • 401(k) with Match
  • Student Loan Assistance Program
  • Tuition Assistance
