Job description

Manages all production operations while working cross-functionally with supporting departments to achieve safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost objectives. Responsible for the effective deployment of people, resources, equipment and systems to support operational performance and business growth. Provides leadership, coaching, accountability and strategic direction for production supervisors, foremen and production personnel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Direct all production operations to ensure safe, quality-focused, and efficient execution of manufacturing activities while achieving customer delivery commitments.
  • Own production planning, scheduling, and execution activities to ensure demand requirements, throughput objectives and operational commitments are achieved.
  • Establish and maintain the operational rhythm of the plant through daily management systems, production reviews and cross-functional alignment meetings.
  • Analyze production metrics, identify performance gaps, implement corrective actions and hold teams accountable for achieving safety, quality, delivery, productivity and cost objectives.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives that enhance production methods, equipment performance, product quality, facility layouts, tooling effectiveness and operational efficiency.
  • Identify operational constraints, remove barriers to performance, and support frontline leaders in resolving production, process and workforce challenges.
  • Drive Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies throughout the operation.
  • Provide cross-functional leadership by partnering with Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, Safety, Supply Chain and Planning teams to drive operational alignment and business objectives.
  • Partner with Maintenance and Engineering resources to ensure reliability of shop-floor equipment and tooling.
  • Partner with Quality teams to ensure defect-free shipment of finished products and compliance with company quality standards.
  • Maintain compliance with ISO standards and applicable regulatory or company requirements.
  • Provide direct leadership, coaching, development and performance management appraisal of production supervisors, foremen and production personnel, including disciplinary responsibilities.
  • Develop operational talent through technical training, coaching, performance development strategies and succession planning.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, teamwork, safety and continuous learning.
  • Provide operational reporting, business analysis, and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Support long-range manufacturing strategies that improve capacity, efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive production or operations leadership experience in a manufacturing environment including direct supervision of production personnel.
  • Experience in a high-mix, highly customized, low-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with ERP systems; SAP preferred.

Knowledge of:

  • Mechanical— Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Engineering and Technology— Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, Industrial Technology, Business, or related discipline preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Lean Sigma

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and understandenglishinstructions.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Must possess, as a minimum, basic Algebra. Descriptive Statistics
