Job description

SGP Recruiting provides both operations and strategic support to Tribal 8(a) and commercial organizations. Our client is a multifaceted Class A General Contractor that is focused on government construction. Their team has extensive experience in all aspects of construction, including roofing, environmental management, engineering services, and manufacturing. The client's objective at the end of each project is for the client to feel like their team has exceeded their expectations that they received a superior product of exceptional value that was delivered on time and within the established budget.
They are seeking an experienced Operations Manager who oversees the daily activities of Site Superintendents, Project Managers, and Administrative staff at their Quantico locations and is ultimately responsible for the overall productivity of the projects being done.
Workplace Type: Full-Time, Onsite. Quantico, VA.
Compensation: $100 - 120K per year.
Responsibilities:
• Demonstrate professionalism and uphold a policy of superior customer service.
• Define project purpose and scope; calculating resources required; establish standards and protocols; allocating resources; schedule and coordinate staff and sub-contractors; evaluating milestone assumptions and conclusions; resolving design problems; assess and implement change orders.
• Supervise the coordination with contractors providing services and infrastructure.
• Meet operational standards by contributing construction information to strategic plans and reviews; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer service standards; resolve problems; identifying construction management system enhancements.
• Select, train, assign, counsel, and discipline employees; voice job expectations; plan, monitor, and assess job performance; recommending compensation actions; adhering to policies and procedures.
• Identify, evaluate, and select subcontractors based on performance and quality workmanship.
• Oversee preparation of daily logs and reports of construction activity for office submittal.
• Supervise change proposals, proposal requests, requests for information; supplemental instructions, and other contract documentation as required.
• Prepare accurate, timely, and detailed monthly project status reports. Reports will include a description of work completed to date, schedule going forward, deviations from the previous reports, subcontractor change orders, and customer issues and/or project scope changes.
• Manage the reviewing and approving of contractor payment requests.
• Attend meetings and conferences.
• Perform a variety of other duties as assigned and special projects as needed.
• Continue a thorough understanding of Federal construction industry practices and standards.
• Meet construction budget by monitoring project expenditures; identifying variances; implementing corrective actions; providing non-project annual operating and capital budget information.
• Ensure a safe, secure, and healthy work environment is maintained by following and enforcing standards and procedures to comply with legal regulations and OSHA standards.
• Conduct project inspections at critical phases; obtaining approvals from customers.
• Maintain relationships and act as a liaison in matters associated with Federal, State, and Municipal matters including permits, inspections, and applicable approval requirements to ensure prompt and successful delivery of project goals and objectives.
• Active communication with all levels of our company.
• Keep confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
Requirements:
• High school diploma or GED required; college preferred but not required.
• Government contracting experience required. Experience with JOC or IDIQ contracts preferred.
• Five years' work experience in management, project development, and implementation of Design-Build construction.
• Solid background in management of large commercial construction projects.
• Able to demonstrate their ability to manage a multimillion-dollar project portfolio and a team made up of Project Managers, Design Engineers, Estimators, Contract Administrators, Administrative staff, Field Installers, Vendors, and Subcontractors.
• A thorough knowledge of all construction-related trades.
• Possess basic computer skills and be proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Project, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and R.S. Means.
• Must be willing to travel.
• The ability to uphold the confidentiality of sensitive information is essential.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Aptitude to stay prepared and complete multiple projects with minimal supervision.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
